  1. It would, but the training ground was a massive undertaking, and if we are to build solid foundations for a generation of prosperity we need to be ahead of the game. The Liebherrs won't be around forever so my hope is that we make hay while the sun is shining.
  2. It's a hard one to call tonight. I think Birmingham will edge it and go through.

  4. I vote Wes.
  5. That's good to hear.
  6. So? We are owned by rich people. And if Brighton did it we can.
  7. The culture you're talking about is in decline, that's the thing. There's no potential for growth from this demographic.
  8. I've explained why, it opens us up to the region. Make it easy for people to drive in and out and that's an obstacle removed.
  9. Time are a changing. With the relaxation of planning to stimulate the growth our country now needs it's a prime to launch another application for a development that will act as a satelite for other developments. Local authorities aren't gonna be wallowing in borrowed money looking ahead, they're gonna need to earn it by encouraging people with money coming in and spending it in their boroughs.
  10. No, I prefer in town, but i'm not looking at this through sentimental eyes, i'm looking at it with a business head on. St Marys is totally unsuitable for the 21st cenury in terms of location to facilitate growth. In business you either grow or you decline and i'd rather Saints be a club that moves with the times otherwise in a few years we'll be another Pompey.
  11. It is far enough out of town to be able drive in easily and drive out easily. It's a perfect location to please everyone. I'm not sure where we could relocate to though, but there's always a solution.
  12. It's pointless as well because the issue is the logistics for car drivers. F/ck all this "save the planet socialist dogma" - what people want is to drive their cars to a game, straight in and straight out. Solve that issue and SFC can grow.
  13. Teams don't struggle because of location, they struggle because of how the team is playing and what league the team is in. I've already given the example of Derby as to a perfect example of a perfect out of town development.
  14. It's got to happen, whether it should or shouldn't is irrelevent.
  15. St Marys can't expand FFS, the roads in the area can't cope as it is. I can't see it getting planning permission because of the impact it has on businesses.
  16. The location is great if you're 20 something and like a few pints, but the reality is that most fans nowadays prefer to clad themselves in tinsel and polyester and have a happy meal and a coke. From a business point of view these people and a more affluent middle class fan is the growth area - basically to coin a term the prawn sandwiche brigade. NC knows this and if we as a club are going to be able to compete at the highest level in the 21st Century we've got to be on the ball and provide what the majority want. That said if and when we do relocate i'd like to see good transports links with the city centre and amenities (pubs) in the vicinity, but it ain't gonna be like it was. Derby is the model every club should look to emulate. Close enough to decent pubs (20 min walk), but far enough away from congestion to allow ease of car access and with a few theme pubs and with a second to none rail/bus links.
  17. It's a forum and people have different views. The bottom line is that Nicola Cortese believes Saints can grow as a club. I happen to agree with him. We've seen Saints jump from a circa 18,000 gate club (based on Dell attendances when we had standing) to a 30,000 gate club in no time once we moved to St Marys. IMO if we can relocate and eradicate the logistical issues (transport congestion) then we can attract a lot more people from outside the city. Don't forget that during our Premier league days we had proportionally more season ticket holders from outside the city limits than any other club in the division. That is an amazing statistic for a club like us and clearly shows that we have a relatively wealthy fanbase which isn't surprising giving the money that is sloshing around in the south/south east. Lowe for all his faults was on the ball when it came to knowing his customers and taking advantage of this. Cortese needs to do the same and look beyong the city to grow the club. If we build out of town we'd be making a very shrewd business decision.
  18. It's gonna be a while because we'd need planning permission etc. I believe it will happen and that we do have the potential to make a 40k stadium feasible. Reckon we'll hear something during the course of this season coming. That said people keep talking about expansion, but imo relocation is the best option and the option Cortese would prefer.
  19. Where have been for the past few years? The last time I remember you posting Lowe was in charge and we were in the Premier League.
  20. This is a Saints message board, not a Scouse love in. Deal with it.
  21. Of course they love it. It's another injustice in their miserable and self pitying lives that they can play the victim card over.
  22. Buy her some fake tan and she'll be sweet.
