They can't dodge bullets for ever, but they've dodged so many over the years that they've begun to believe their own BS as they confuse charity with obligation. They really do believe they are entitled to a permanent seat at the top table and no-one here has been able to convince them otherwise, so hopefully they are on the last of their charmed lives now. If I've understood correctly, I think the problem is that they didn't *buy* anything, at least not outright. They had it from Chinnie on some kind of HP agreement & couldn't keep up the repayments so now Chinnie is trying to foreclose on them
