Saw Robin Van Persie call himself a 9 and a half '(As in not a number 9 or a number 10) on Sky's usual Super Sunday overhyped Hollywood style build up and it got me thinking about our Rickie. Personally I see Rickie as similar player as RvP, capable of dropping deep, bringing other people into the game and playing as a second striker but also equally adapt at leading the line, scoring goals and holding the ball up.
Which lead me to thinking about next season which if we are fortunate enough to be promoted, we might well switch our system to the dynamic 4-5-1/4-3-3 deployed by most of Europe's top teams. 4-4-2 is almost suicide against a decent 4-5-1/4-3-3 team because they overrun the midfield and the defensive midfielder stops the gap between the defence and midfield being employed by a number 10. Even against the Skates our midfield struggled at times against what could be described as a very average midfield 3.
I also think this formation helps out with the full backs defensively (Which we can all say as been woeful at times this season) in addition to the wide men tracking back, the defensive player of the midfield 3 can drift to help out on the flank in trouble (Alex Song does this well for Arsenal who have very attacking full backs, to keep the RvP analogy going)
Anyone else think Lambo would be capable of playing that role?
Possible line up (Using this seasons players)

Or am I crazy?
P.S I think 4-4-2 is absolutely the way to go in the championship.
