  1. Sounds great - buying an injured striker with Scottish connections has worked incredibly well this season.
  2. I say this for no other reason that context, but I believe that statistics say Wesley Hoedt is one of the best defenders in the Championship; but I doubt many would have him back to St Mary's.
  3. I'm not saying he's crap, but Carillo's record since leaving Saints isn't exactly stellar - a couple of goals this season in the Chinese Super League. Onuachu's record pre Saints is far better than Carillo's has been at any time, so there's a chance there's a good player in there with the right system.
  4. Only to put the bins out.
  5. Of all the concerns about our club right now, this wouldn't be high up on my list. Especially since we do have a striped kit this year.
  6. Isn't the blue one a bit ... Pompey?
  7. But does he track back?
  8. I know Leeds fans who say you'd be mad to think they'll come straight back up next year.
  9. The clocks don't go forward until March 26th next year, so ... yeah.
  10. Salisu and Moi were injured before the West Ham game; Long and KWP injured during the game. No-one's availability has been affected by being rested for the cup match, so I'm not sure what your point is?
  11. Not doubting @Dan Sheldon, The Athletic's journalistic credentials, but the idea that he reported it before the pattern had been spotted by legions of EPL analysts is ... interesting.
  12. Cycled past their training ground earlier. Two lads pinning up a protest banner opposite the entrance - I had to point out that they were putting it up back to front.
  13. Not least because Murdoch isn’t involved with Sky anymore.
  14. Anyone know if it's likely to be on tv anywhere?
  15. Why would Vestergaard be a good bet for Leicester? Perhaps because his lack of pace is exposed less in a back three than it is in Saints’ back four?
  16. Hasn't Maehle played midfield too? Seems unlikely we'd be in for him (even though he's been linked for ages) given he moved not that long ago.
  17. New goalkeeping shirts revealed this morning - McCarthy modelling all three. Forster nowhere to be seen ... 🤔
  18. Interesting that Tella made a be-line for Walcott after he’d scored his first goal on Saturday. You’d suspect there’s some degree of coaching/mentoring in his role at Saints.
  19. Which signals are those, out of interest?
  20. I hope you're not being entirely serious. It was a terrible decision, but it was hardly instrumental in the defeat.
  21. Bit early - the game doesn't start until 8.15.
  22. This was my first match at the Dell - Steve Moran hattrick before half time against Citeh. All those attempted two-footed tackles on Armstrong for the third goal would probably see 3 players sent off these days 😃 Southampton v Man City 1983
  23. Interesting piece here on Saints' tactical setup this season. It's in the Telegraph, so behind a paywall, but you can sign up to view the article for free.
  24. Not sure how that works out financially. Surely if three supporters pay £5 to watch a game, it's the same as one supporter paying £15. So if a lower charge gets many more people paying – and I'd say that paying a fiver is probably a more attractive prospect than using a stream – then the clubs have a decent chance of making more money.
  25. He says nothing about leaving, it’s entirely conjecture on the journalist’s part.
