They are all givens or should be Pap, nothing wrong in taking pride in that at all, why not the place you reside in? I have lived in other Countries and this apathy and lack of interest is unique to this Country trust me.

I'm not on about the Tebbit test and all that, this concerns a day for all of us, what actually binds us in this Country?

Can we not celebrate, diversity, acceptance, humilty and how lucky and fortunate we are on our National Saints Day? Is that so difisive and bad?

No but its on the way, employers give their employees the day and take the earlier one. (So I am told)

We could easily trade one day for another, there is a definite Liberal agenda there but that is another issue altogether. The unease we have at flying our own flag and being seen as a crank or a rabid racist if we do, fear of others thoughts, its creates more fear and gives opportunity to extremists.

Why isn't our National day a bank holiday? I can not think of another Country that has this issue, can you?

Why can every Country, state and Principality on the planet be proud to where they come from and yet "it seems" this is simply not the way we do things in this Nation as it could be perceived by some as right wing or offence to a minority? This is not a thread to stir anything up nor is it an Anti European thread or one to do with immigration at all this is a thread simply put why can others Nations celebrate their Nation and yet "it feels" like we cant? An example of this is the refusal of our leaders to entertain a bank holiday for our Patron Saint, is there any other Nation thats does so little?
