  1. Thats far too divisive and not in the holiday season at all, you are asking for a day of remembrance and we already have that.
  2. If you think its irrelevant then I suggest to you a vested interest they would have, they would not even handed, it happens all the time.
  3. Yes but it does not have to be anything to do with St George per se, a day that aims to unite everyone in England, some may look to St George and others something else BUT there has to be a unifying thing for all.
  4. It does not have to be a National Day, English Day or anything to do with St George, simply a day we all have off and thank ourselves we live in a free and democratic Country, if others have it why cant we?
  5. Ok then goodnight Mavis, you have ballsed it up through will an incorrect patronising post so you might as well continue, I would stand back and be quiet though.
  6. With respect no I'm not letting my thoughts runaway with me, they are nearly all from the same background now so they are all peas from the same pod with a twist here and there, in a safe seat they will only lose their seat to another party member put up by the selection committee or an independent for 5 years now. A marginal will always be a marginal so the next election will be lost in that seats yes, the Lords in the house of Lords can go to prison and return to the position, it has to be the most corrupt place in the whole World. Trust died a long time ago as far as politicians go, all ppe Oxbridge/LSE graduates with no real grasp of the people telling us how to live, we are going backwards.
  7. About the same as the media in North Korea.................................
  8. No its not, you could argue once the English (Norman blood makes no difference) took the fight to the French Territories they were liberated and a subjugated Nation was free.
  9. Within a few generations obviously not straight away, they wiped out, within a century marriages between English and Norman were frequent, the only way the Normans kept power was from castles as few actually came over, William was hardly ever here in truth. A new NormanEnglish after a while came to be at it obviously, as I said there biggest weapon was integration, the Normans were quite frankly amazing at what they did. The pale in Ireland as another example of their amazing intentions and assimilation.
  10. A good friend of my wifes is an economist at the moment and has worked for the Labour Party before in some capacity and assures me it is one cushy ride in a safe seat.
  11. And be done with it, what does that mean exactly? That it means they can not lobby? I'll tell you now they get £1000's a year from that, their expenses and "other" activities cover everything very well indeed trust me.
  12. The Normans were Scandinavian and superb at inter marrying with the locals, that was their success where ever they went in the old regions of France and England. They ruled in England anyway by in effect franchising the land out to English nobles who then paid their dues to the King.
  13. Now you are letting a possibility stop the enjoyment of millions, thats so liberal Pap, the tail wagging the dog. Another typical liberalism is stereotyping when its suits them, a dreadful trait in anyone that Pap, others do that and get called allsorts by liberals funnily enough:p
  14. Of course Pap, they are more than welcome but would not show I suspect as everyone is having a good time and not offended by anything.
  15. This is a cracker of a post.
  16.
  17. Where have I ever written the Normans liberated England?
  18. You appear as a good candidate I suppose. Pap is as foppy as Clegg so he gets the nod there as well.
  19. I wish he could permenantly pretend to be amusing............................
  20. Brilliant thats two, I'll do the balloons and you bring the cake.
  21. I refer to the house of Lords...........................Christ alive.
  22. Like all the Lords strolling up everyday and getting their pay.
  23. Exactly what I would want, a day for all, not that I would want anybody dressing up as a morris dancer mind.
  24. I have agreed with you on the situation with Crow, you are comparing public service with very very favourable rules in your favour against a Union with is self funding and can pay what it wants, nearly all mp's will have a company/institution they are alligned to which gives them money or perks. How much do they pay again on homes? Travel? Their pension is second to none, you look at pay, I look at conditions of service, they are the real thing to look for.
  25. The Union basher's simply quote the sun and the mail and think its all bang on, like those rags have never lied or exaggerated.
