Why saints only need to sign 1 centre back. NOT 2!

You say that with enough authority that it nearly hides the fact that you've just completely made that up! Just because they're Dutch? -

Ideally we should sign two. You want two good players in each position, so you would really like four good, premiership level centre backs in your team to be competitive. Right now we have 3 senior CB's, two of which are good enough for this level, and Hooiveld who isn't. I think Yoshida is decent given a run of games and always thought he looked solid in our first year back, but he is replaceable. We could, and if we want to progress, should do better. Fonte will obviously start given his leadership qualities and ability, so we need someone to cover him (Yoshida) and we need someone to replace Lovren, and then a decent enough back up to him. Our young CB's coming through do look very good, Stephens particularly, but it's a very difficult position to blood players in given the amount of times that mistakes will be capitalised upon by the quality level of opposition we will face week in week out. -
Definitely think you're right RE Lallana - will be interesting to see how Koeman uses him, as I think if he is used correctly then he will be our best player.
-
Ramirez has only scored half the amount of Premier League goals for us than Lallana got, and he's done that with a lot less time on the pitch! Hopefully he will step up into the Lallana void. Looked very good vs Bournemouth.

I believe some of our goals will come from outside the box, and have it on pretty good authority that some will come from inside the box, too. I'm ITK on this.

No idea, I'm not ITK, just passing on second hand information! -

Supposedly passed his medical this morning, just waiting on an announcement now assuming everything has gone well at the other end. -
Why let self-contradiction get in the way of a good old moan, though, eh? I seriously doubt we were ever in for Rodwell. Just because the press put his name in an article about us doesn't mean we were ever actually looking. Perhaps we were, who knows, but I doubt it.

Must be a load of rubbish, then!

It's Ryan Bertrand...

Think it comes from this Daily Star article, not the most reliable of sources... http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/392480/Tottenham-ready-to-offer-Nacer-Chadli-in-a-bid-for-Southampton-s-Morgan-Schneiderlin

 We're looking good for an announcement today - squad and media team are at the solent university today. Could fit a medical in and then the media team are already on hand to come in with the interviews and announcement. Will probably be an evening announcement (if there is one) as the club know most fans are at work during the day and will likely want to announce anything at a peak time after that to get the biggest possible audience.

Can you find the direct quote from him? I don't recall he "promised anything"? More along the lines of "We hope to get those done over the weekend." If I remember correctly...

Anyone mentioned that Jordy Clasie has apparently handed in a transfer request? (According to Talksaints on twitter)

"Middle runner" sounds a fair bit like a central midfielder who is encouraged to push forward, perhaps through the middle, so 'attacking central midfielder' or ACM for those that like Football Manager. Even box to box midfielder works. My point is that there are ample words in the English dictionary to describe the words that you have needlessly dipped into the French language for. I never once saw Alex Ferguson in his post match interview describing a player as being "the best Milieu Relayeur on the pitch" because, as English speakers with English words, we quite simply don't need to. -

Another point of semantics for you WC! Speaking French doesn't make you sound any more clever, either...I can say mots de fantaisie in French, too, but prefer to stick to the English, you know, like every one else on here does. (And, if we're really getting into it, 'Millieu' actually only needs the one 'l'.) -
Just a heads up, 'salarial' isn't actually a word, or not an English word, at least. If you're trying to sound clever, it's best to use real, existing words to do so... EDIT: My mistake, it is a word. Although now I'm confused even more. What does the amount of fish we have got to do with our wage structure?

So not our first link to a right back this summer, then.

I can't work out which of our players talks like this, "mate" after every word makes whoever it is sound like a complete pillock, and, I don't think players would talk about their team mates in this way "his heads come off" "they're just digging their heels in"... Sounds to me like this Spud poster is trying to score a few points. Mate.

The fact Adkins thought he was good enough to make his full debut vs Manchester City on the opening day of the season tells a lot for his potential, added to his subsequent performances and character, he's clearly going to be a great player. Some of his goals for the various England age groups have been amazing. Watching his interview last night, he is already talking like a captain. Let's hope he sticks around long enough to become one. His next Premier League fixture with us will be his 50th, amazing for a 19 year old CM.
