  1. The role of Woolston in the design and manufacturing of the Spitfire should never be forgotten. Many people worked at the factory on Hazel Road and were killed there, when it was bombed. Despite this, the Germans were never able to stop the production of the plane that protected the troops when they landed on D-Day. Take a quick look at this and remember what non-combat workers from Southampton did and suffered for all of us. Unheralded, but not forgotten. I'm now going to start work, whilst wiping my eyes.
  2. Major General Sir Nigel Holmes in 1945 said 'Without Southampton we could not have done D-Day'. In his report Admiral Ramsay C-in-C of Operation Neptune, crossing of English Channel, said that to direct the thousands of ships the allies needed 'close and continuous' control which was impossible from Southwick House north of Portsdown Hill. The actual headquarters for the US Army on D-Day was in a wing of the Civic Centre and the British and Commonwealth Army was in South Western Hotel (HMS Shrapnel).
  3. My Uncle was in Number 4 Commando, that left, together with the rest of his Brigade, from Warsash. They were under the command of Lord Lovat, famous for ordering his piper to pipe them ashore, then across Pegasus Bridge. I was lucky enough to take him to the embarkation point, outside the Rising Sun, for the 50th anniversary event. A very brave man and we talked a lot about his experiences that day, over the years. This was truly the golden generation. My Dad wounded at Monte Cassino, another Uncle sunk on the N. Atlantic convoy, very proud of all of them. They came home, but many didn't and I'll be shedding a tear or two tomorrow. Worth watching this video featuring Southampton's part in D Day.
  4. Swansea suing Russell Martin??
  5. Ignore the politics for a second, but what a top man.
  6. Who's interested in meeting up in the Saints fan zone? It would be nice to put faces to screen names. I'll be at the face painting booth, wearing a jester hat.
  7. He doesn't have Wembley Stadium as a beer garden, either.
  8. They provide hospitality in the same way as my local landlord when he rips me off for £6.50 a pint.
  9. I managed to get 4 tickets, but needed more. This site is offering Club Wembley tickets for £325. Expensive, but the same tickets in the Leeds end are £795
  10. Who are ya? Who are ya? Who are ya?
  11. I remember in 1983 when that grinning taff, Kinnock, slipped and fell on Brighton Beach. Oh how I laughed. To me, the guy was about as nakedly unprincipled as Starmer, in his pursuit of power. It wasn't long, in 1992, when the lefties were crying all over their Socialist Worker paper when Labour lost the GE to John "Fucking" Major, probably the worst PM in my living memory. Starmer has started the rot. For any committed socialist, the recruitment of Natalie Elphicke, with her similar lack of principles and open door policies to immigration in Dover, Starmer is beyond the pale. So, I am predicting that last week will be seen as the high water mark for the Labour party. Our very own Rishi Sunak will rise to the challenge and prevent Labour from achieving a majority. In fact, I can see the Conservatives winning, as they did in 1992. Looking back, the Tory win marked the end of the Dock Labour Scheme. Anyone from Southampton will remember what that did to the local economy. The end of strikes and the beginning of the rebirth of our port. Of course, Kinnock got his missus onto the EU gravy train, so unlike his constituents, he wasn't too affected by the election loss. I wonder where Starmer will end up? Got to be the House of Lords with two jags Prescott. Just another champagne socialist, spending your taxes until they run out. Rishi? He doesn't need our money, just Saints winning at Wembley. I look forward to seeing him there.

  15. After his NATO comments, Trump is completely right again: Someone tell me he's wrong. The "British" lefty traitors running this country are totally out of touch with what is happening and the police scared to do there job and protect the rights of its citizens. Later this year there'll be a reckoning.
  16. Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes told the president of the NASDAQ, here, "brokers have a significant financial incentive to lend non-existent shares." He believes at least some short sellers are betting shares will go down in price without owning or borrowing them which can be illegal."
  17. Err.no I didn't say it was "some sort of long term bet". What I said was "Truth Social will increase in value until Trump is elected. when its value will tank when Trump starts selling his stock. I reckon it'll double in value this year. I would invest $5,000 for a laugh, no more." I stand by that, but hey, I could be wrong. I bet £10 that Saints would get promoted this season.
  18. He's getting more shares in his own company worth $1.3 million. I doubt he'll sell them to "idiots" yet, so nothing to see mate, certainly no scam. I know you hate his guts, but I doubt you'd be reckless enough to make a libellous claim like that on a public forum. Doh...
  19. At open on April 19, Trump Media & Technology Group Corp share price rose to $36.95, up 11.33% from previous close.
