TijuanaTim Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 We probably all want promotion, whether we get it will be another thing. Defo more likely than a few weeks ago, however, if we get it how would you like to get it?? Think of your viewing and entertainment experience and all the tales you'll tell those that 'weren't there'. 1. Blow away pretty well all our opponents and easily claw back the 10 points criusing to the title? 2. Have a thrilling ride before just stealing the title? 3. Somehow getting an automatic promo spot? 4. Have a gut-wrenching, helter-skelter ride to just get into th play-offs, then win at Wembley?

It's There Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Any of those will make me happy, but either 2 or 4 would be very satisfying
barney Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Very optimistic at the moment. The managerial position will be a HUGE statement on the intentions of the new owner IMHO.

Tractor_Saint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 The managerial position will be a HUGE statement on the intentions of the new owner IMHO. Agree with you Barney - nothing would delight me more than for us to move up to the Championship straight away. However, on -10 it really needs a very strong manager to do that. My personal thoughts are the new manager should set expectations with the team that we'll be in Div 1 for this season and next then make Championship the year after that for a couple of seasons and Prem by 2013/14 season. What we need is to build a strong on field team and we can't afford for them to get despondent and leave after the first season in Div 1 if we don't get promoted. Take KD as an example, he was about to walk and I'm very glad he stayed - let's hope his committment rubs off on others. If we manage to exceed the expectations of 2013/14 season in the Premiership then that would be fantastic - however we need a team of strong committed players that will stay with us for the reward in 13/14. SFC Forever Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 A big name manager is not the main necessity at the moment. Players capable of winning matches are needed much much more. If we get both fine I will be over the moon. If we just get players and somehow struggle over the line at wembley, just think of the party we will have on the way back from the smoke. Especially when we have beatten a team from the big capital itself.
chrisobee Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 No, I'm going to have nightmares about Tony Adams. Please, please, please don't let him be our new manager.

Yes and Tony Adams is looking ever more likely to be that person. Cannot believe it but someone, somewhere is piling cash on him to be the new manager
SFC Forever Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 How the hell can appointing Tony Adams be us making a huge statement of intent? I'm sorry but him and those sentiments just do not go together. Next some bright spark will be asking for him to pick Paul Merson as his running mate.
