Tractor_Saint Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 (edited) (Hope I'm allowed to paraphase these interviews for those that haven't got time / the money to sign up for Saints TV / Player - should have been a seccy as I've got speedy fingers although the legs are not that good) AP started by talking about Sir Bobby and his best wishes to his family. Interviewer: "This weekend at QPR" AP: "Football is a game. For us it's a living and we have to approach it in a professional manager. Took players away from training ground. Took 3 days out from the ground and had a superstars event that the staff won (worries me) and if the team doesn't win next time we're really in trouble. Good set of players / professionals. Problems with how to play away. Not ready for QPR and not ready for Millwall. Big steps already though. Hope it's reflected tomorrow. Have a stern test tomorrow - contender for promotion. No favourites in Championship. Good test - stand up to them, make sure we can physically cope. Young players - just need some help." Interviewer: "Surprised Stern John didn't sign?" AP: "Not best pleased he didn't sign - made excuses about his agents. Assumed he would sign. Even mentioned his agent had family troubles. Never asked for more money - never implied any problems. Then said he was going to leave. Disappointed in him and his agent. But would want to wish him luck. Way he done it, think he'll reflect and feel it wasn't right and correct manner." Interviewer: "Is that a set back then?" AP: "Of course - leaves me with two Polish internationals that fear for their Polish career - trying to convince them they can play internationally and in Div 1 if they score. Hanging over football club. No point if motiviation isn't there. Couldnt carry Ronaldo in this division if motiviation isn't there. " Hmmm - no mention of any new players Edited 31 July, 2009 by Tractor_Saint
SaintDonkey Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 You fail to mention that apparently they had a 'Superstars' competion between players and staff on a team building break over the last few days. And that the staff won. Alan is rightly worried by this!

Tractor_Saint Posted 31 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 31 July, 2009 FAO Donkey Took players away from training ground. Tractor_Saint Posted 31 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 31 July, 2009 Was he asked a question about new players? Sadly not, but the interviewer didn't ask Kelvin about new players but Kelvin offered up a few 'hooks'. Unfortunately AP didn't get asked about the new players but he also didn't offer anything up about new players.
SaintDonkey Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 What you on he did mention this??????? To quote AP "The players this week I took them away because they had been at the training ground for far too long for a professional side. We had three days of a bit of bonding, a bit of sport, a lot of work on the team. We had a little bit of a superstars event which the staff won. And that worries me. So err but we will defend it and if the team don't win it next time then we are really in trouble"

modern matron Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 we are not. Really! presumably all of the new signing will turn up next Friday! That'll really worry Millwall.....
NickG Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 no, by end of August - like most other clubs. Millwall won't be relaxed if they are facing the team that played against Hearts (rasiak instead of John).

Wake up we need signings immediately - forget Hearts they were ripe for the taking!! Just because Markus has bought the club doesn't mean a guarantee that everything will be alright now!!!! Bailey Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 Good, honest interview from Pardew. He's impressed me so far and continues to say the right things. I just hope it's not long before he can get us playing the way he wants and winning football matches! Fingers crossed for some new signings over the coming days also.
