A new era...for Saints.

even after 50 years as a fan, you can't take away the feeling of joy at yesterdays fantastic result, especially when you consider that we were without 4-5 of our regular first teamers, it shows the depth of our squad.

I recently reminisced on the ups and down of that period. promotions, cup wins (and defeats,) international players and a new stadium, too. OK we know, it's not Champions League or FA Cup but after the trauma of the past 5 years, it is a real pick-up for fans. I only wish Messers Liebherr and Cortese could look back over the period that we have as our history and draw as much encouragement as we do.

I am not criticising NC /ML at all (though some seem to be) but this type of investment is not like a normal business deal. Marcus Liebherr spent his last years " fun money " on buying the club. As all hobbies you expect to invest your time /money without any real return. We can only hope that AP and the squad he has built on can be allowed some real time to bring us more success. CCC here we come!

I fear that NC's biggest ****-up would be to become trigger-happy where Pards is involved, but I'm hoping that the cup win will get him until at-least Christmas now regardless of how we finish the season.

I think that Nicola Cortese has done a fantastic job in restructuring the club from bankruptcy: In retrospect AP's appointment seems to have been an inspired one. Despite the -10 we have seen a remarkable turn round since the first 10 games.

After the magnificent show yesterday, all can see what fantastic support the club has. I only hope that NC doesn't apply the same rules to SFC as he would a normal banking investment.

Otherwise......COYR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the biggest c o c k up will be if naive supporters allow the media hype, the rival club managers in the game, get away with stirring up absolute b u ll s hi t. Just look at Ipswich, at West Ham to name but two clubs being ritually screwed by media misinformation.

Nicolas Cortese is as big as supporter as every Saints supporter. He wants results, he wants success and he's right to put pressure on the manager, on the players to produce, and for them to get results. If you pay the price then you've got the right to expect the best. Supporters moan at matches, on forums so why can't Nicolas Cortese issue a statement clarifying to one and all where our priorities stand. Haven't seen any negative effects to date, and doubt, especially, if we get to the play offs, we'll see any either.

The one thing every single Saints player, every single supporter has to do, is to raise their hat to Nicolas Cortese. He and Marcus have put the football at Southampton Football Club back where it belongs......on the pitch, and, not, as in the past 12 years, in the boardroom.

Is there any fan who honestly wants to return to believing every bit of tittle tattle and then watch a bunch of baffoons act it out in the Boardroom, orchestrated by a red faced egocentric trigger happy duck shooting chairman.

Nicolas Cortese, is the best thing to have happened at our club since sliced bread. He cuts every slice with perfect precision and efficiency. Carry on Nicolas.
