MulletMan Posted 25 June, 2010 Share Posted 25 June, 2010 Sorry for bringing this up again, but couldn´t find the other thread. Is it confirmed that we won´t play friendlies overseas? Want to book a trip for the opening game but have to see if there are other options available (Switzerland or Austria?)
Dan Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 Rumour is Switzerland. I have contacted the club, who have been useless with the matter. Rumour has it its early July.
sotonjoe Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 Details seem rather late on this to be honest. Last year we began preseason on the Saturday 4th July (not quite sure of date - 3rd / 4th? - it was the first weekend in July anyway) at Eastleigh. It was a hot 3pm kickoff if I remember correctly and rumours were rife about the 'Swiss takeover' which was then finally announced the following Monday. Bring that forward 12 months and you'd be lookg at a first preseason game NEXT SATURDAY. That clearly isn't going to happen now. Perhaps we started preseason early last year, but it still feels odd to have details of so few friendlies at this stage. If we do't hear details during next week, I'm going to think it's very strange,

Michelle Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 Everything started early as all competitions had to be finished early due to the small matter of the World Cup.

La BoIS Saint Posted 26 June, 2010 Share Posted 26 June, 2010 Communication has been **** as is par for the course with Cortese. I honestly don't think he wants any fans just robots with credit cards.
Paul Chuckle Posted 27 June, 2010 Share Posted 27 June, 2010 Why are people getting so worked up about who we are playing in 'friendly' matches???
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 27 June, 2010 Share Posted 27 June, 2010 Doesn't surprise me, especially as the dates and venue have been known for weeks. Is Cortese going to risk not having a Ted Bates game this year as well? The doors are closing...
JRM Posted 27 June, 2010 Share Posted 27 June, 2010 Usual made up responses from people on here who actually know nothing, we did not start early last year because of the world cup! Season started 8th august last year, starting 7th august this year so no difference in preparation time, la bois saint is spot on, this is more due to the fascination the club now has with delaying announcements on anything or not announcing anything at all. Only 3 1st team friendlies planned with 1st one on 27th july is not normal!
garryuk Posted 28 June, 2010 Share Posted 28 June, 2010 I believe they are going to Switzerland from the 8th July for 10 days
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 28 June, 2010 Share Posted 28 June, 2010 I believe they are going to Switzerland from the 8th July for 10 days So 2 weeks away and they haven't announced it? Even though many Saints fans like to have their summer holiday on a pre-season tour? Hmmm.... another example of Cortese sticking 2 fingers up at Saints fans. I wonder if he will go for the jackpot and f*ck off the Ted Bates memorial game?
Dan Posted 28 June, 2010 Share Posted 28 June, 2010 Why are people getting so worked up about who we are playing in 'friendly' matches??? Not sure if you are aware of this but some saints fans actually like to go to games. People need to make travel arrangements and book holiday, and time wise it’s leaving it very late.
