supersonic Posted 20 January, 2011 Share Posted 20 January, 2011 Hi all I am a STH and drive down to all the home games and usually end up parking somewhere near the jury's inn hotel and walking to the ground. However on the last few games I have noticed that The Avenue has been getting even more busy and getting out onto the M3 takes longer I was wondering if anyone else used the clubs Park & Ride scheme, and if so, how good is it? and where is it as the directions on the OS are a bit vague. Also, what number buses go past the ground on Northam Road (stopping just outside the King Alfred pub)? Thanks In advance
The9 Posted 21 January, 2011 Share Posted 21 January, 2011 Can't help you with the buses, but I can point out that Southampton Central train station has been closed for the last two home games which pretty much explains away the extra traffic. From past experience (in the Prem) of driving down, if you leg it at the final whistle and park where you are already, you'll miss all the traffic anyway. sfc1971 Posted 21 January, 2011 Share Posted 21 January, 2011 I drive down to the M271 exit at Redbridge and park in the Ship Inn then a 2min walk over main road to Kendall Ave catch the 18 Bluestar bus (every 10 mins) that stops opposite the Alfred. On way back bus stop outside Asda in town Num 8,10,11,12 all stop at Redbridge fly over. this is much better than faffing about in town.
