Marsdinho Posted 21 December, 2011 Share Posted 21 December, 2011 Hello, I'm thinking about getting a NAS enclosure for my home, to set up personal cloud storage. Ideally, I would be able to access the files on it from my Win7 laptop, Win7 PC, Iphone and Ipad; both at home, via my LAN, and remotely via the web. Can anyone suggest a good enclosure that is Ipad2 compatible, I only need to enclosure as I can get hold of SATA drives via work. Have found this Noontec one, but it only has one hard drive slot, ideally the enclosure would have 2. http://www.microdirect.co.uk/home/product/53021/noontec-n5-3-5--gigabit-nas-enclosure Don't want to spend too much on it, so anything around the £50 - £100 mark would be good. Cheers in advance.
timebomb Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 I have a 500GB version this Buffalo unit. http://www.ebuyer.com/152055-buffalo-linkstation-live-1tb-1x-1tb-nas-drive-ls-ch1-0tl It's ok but a little slow to upload to but streams to the TV/media centre fine. I can also download stuff off it from my sons house which is cool.
Pugwash Posted 22 December, 2011 Share Posted 22 December, 2011 If you can push the budget up a bit, I'd recommend a Synology DS211J (about £140, enclosure only). Reasonably fast, but the real plusses are the facilities and applications that make it so easy to set up for everything. Plenty of reviews online.
