Where to stay in London?

I've a place on the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 closed road sportive on Sunday 10th August.

 

It departs on waves between 06.00 - 08.00 from the Olympic Park and finishes on The Mall and riders have to register at the Excel centre on the 9th or 10th.

 

The wife and kids have said that they'd like to make a weekend in London of it (Fri - Mon) and the dragon-in-law will most likely come down as well.

 

So, bearing in mind that I have to leave from Stratford and finish outside Buck House could anyone suggest a good place to stay for 3 adults and 3 kids. We will be arriving by car as I'll have my bike.
