Batman Posted 18 November, 2014 Share Posted 18 November, 2014 It seems my trusted macbook needs updating. Fecking football manager 2015 does not work properly and seems the graphics card is not good enough it is an 'early 2011' version of the Macbook Pro series. now, I do like them, they are very good bits of kit but bloody expensive. my question is.....have windows laptops gotten any better in the last 4 years since I upgraded last time? ecuk268 Posted 18 November, 2014 Share Posted 18 November, 2014 Forget Windows, use a flavour of Linux (I use Ubuntu). You'll get much better performance from less expensive hardware. Unless you have applications that will only run on Windows, there's loads of free software including Open Office which is the equivalent of Microsoft Office. FM 2015 is also supported on Linux. BlakeySFC Posted 19 November, 2014 Share Posted 19 November, 2014 Could you not just replace the graphics card?

Could you not just replace the graphics card? This may be useful, Jamie. Seems like them Macs that "just work", specifically your version, are failing in numbers. http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/05/13/apple-remains-mum-as-complaints-mount-over-2011-macbook-pro-gpu-failures That's not the latest article out there. You may want to see if you are covered by AppleCare's 3 year warranty.
