It's just a game and a hobby really?

it is just a game and some would say a hobby but when you have been going since you were 4 years old (38 years) and witnessed the highs and lows, following your team across the country and europe, fighting in the name of your team(it used to be fashionable),bought your kids up to support the team you love,it sort of becomes part of your life and gets in your blood, which becomes very hard to shake off.

I found it hard at first. But actually feel that by staying away I am doing some good.

That said I also find myself desperate to go and support as I know the fans will be key to keeping us up this season - so I want to do my bit for the team whilst undermining the plc.

Confused, angry and desperate for Lowe and the plc to finally leave so I can genuinely come back and support a football club and not a **** plc that has sucked the lifeblood out of this club for too long.

On life's scale SAINTS decline is not important to me anymore - I don't think they care so why should we? I shall not be going to another game until this current regime depart.

Mirrors my feelings and i am in complete agreement. I started supporting Saints aged 8 in 1982, I cannot identify with Saints 2008, I just find myself less and less interested. I didnt even watch the last televised game. This club is all but dead.

I think there's alot of truth in that statement for all of us... and for god sake those of us who post on here and read it regularly are likely to be die-hard fans!

I too am sort of enjoying not attending games. I said it a few months ago but SFC is all but dead. We are now actually supporting Southampton Leisure Holdings plc youth team.

Agreed this club is becoming less and less the club I have supported man and boy.... whilst the move from the Dell was supposed to be a new dawn I didnt expect it to be a fall from Grace!! But just how many people linked with "that club" are still present here? (Fans aside that is???)

If I dont feel an affinity I am also left wondering if the supposed "sugar daddies" that may support The Saints have also turned their backs on us (them) considering us as a lost cause???

Yes the Southampton FC I support has gone.... The Saints.... no longer... dont rely on believing that "one day our time will come again" because the whole damn operation has been mis-managed into insolvency... if anything does survive it wont be my team will it?

If it is a problem supporting your team when they are struggling then why bother in the first place? Take the easy option and support one of the big teams. Sorted!

I started supporting Saints in 1966 which was a good time to start. Promotion and England winning the World Cup.

It has been up and down since then (more downs than ups if truth be told) but that is part and parcel of supporting a club like SFC.

So the last two seasons have seen the club at the lowest league position in all the time I have supported the team.

I am not going to stop now just because things are cr*p but if people want to bail that is their right.

Southampton FC are going through something (or are soon about to) that the club has never gone through before particularly in relation to the way football is now structured. The 21st century game has nothing to do with the 1940s or any other footballing era so comparing them is like comparing chalk and cheese and as pointless.

Unless something changes soon we, whatever our views, will see the death of this club in it's current form and whatever replaces it will never, ever be the same.

If you are happy with that keep on whistling and shouting 'la-la-la'.

I started going to the Dell in 1963 straight after the Man U semi final. My two boys came with me as soon as they were old enough in the 80's. We've gone to support them hundreds of times despite the costs of a 270 mile round trip. I've seen many ups and downs but never anything like this. However, after Notts Forest and Plymouth I can't face watching any more. The SLH youth team is out of its depth and we are odds on to go down. I'll keep my membership as a sign of hope that the current regime will be replaced and people who show they care about SFC return. As soon as that happens I'll immediately return. This is written with great sadness but it's the only action I can take to show my disgust at the depths we have sunk this season. I felt real hope during the early summer but that's all gone. An empty ground will be the only message that hits home to RL.
