SO16_Saint Posted 6 January, 2015 Share Posted 6 January, 2015 Does anyone know whether you can run the coax cable connecting the MagicEye and Sky box outside the house rather than having cables visible throughout the house? Situation is that the living room and bedroom are above/below eachother and share an outside wall so i want to run a length of coax externally and back in upstairs. Anyone know if this will be a problem?

Anyone know if this will be a problem? if you are going to run cables, why not get the cable fitted via a point in the other room and then straight into the telly and change the channel via your phone (and wifi) out TV points in the house allow us to run a cable from the back of the sky box and into the TV point in the front room. That picture can be tuned in via the TV point in the bedroom and we change the channel via our phone. The magic eye did not work in our house

Batman Posted 6 January, 2015 Share Posted 6 January, 2015 Not sure what you mean Batman. Sorry am a bit dim with tech sometimes if you are going to run cables outside of the house, may as well forget using the magic eye and run an extra TV point upstairs. we have a TV point on each floor, with the main point in the lounge (near the sky box) I have run an RF cable from the back of the sky box (there is a socket that allows you to do this) to the aerial point in the room This in turn send the sky picture into the internal aerial/tv points in the house. We then plugged the TV upstair into the TV point in the bedroom (like you would do for normal free view viewing etc) and once tuned in, manually tuned a channel on the telly not being used and picked up the sky picture. to change the channel, get the sky app on your phone and you can control your sky box from your phone (assuming your sky box is also connected to the internet) we did this as the magic eye thing just did not work properly. it sounds more than it actually is

Not HD quality but normal TV quality, if you get what I mean be worth looking online and get a local TV Aerial type tradesman around to have a look and explain what you want the Magic Eye may well be better for you, but for us it just did not work for some reason
mcjwills Posted 7 January, 2015 Share Posted 7 January, 2015 SO16 what are you wanting the magic eye for if it's multi room to show sky upstairs, you can only watch what is on the main tv. If you are going for an HD package for the extra tenner it's worth it for proper multi room an another box upstairs, doubles your taping capacity and the added bonus you can send the spouse upstairs to watch the soaps while you watch the football downstairs in HD. We really only want it to watch stuff when we've gone to bed (romantic, eh). Luckilly the wife works evenings so i can watch all the football i can stomach without having to p1ss off upstairs ? Also, we would watch recorded programmes - which we wouldnt bother recording twice on both boxes.
