Funding a change of manager

Jan seems to be a top bloke and I wish him well in whatever he does next. However I think we need a change.

We'd probably have to pay compensation to Poortvliet, Wotte (and Gorey?) which would leave us even more cash strapped than we are already. Possibly so cash strapped that even bringing in a free agent like Dowie or Adams would require some sacrifice on the player front, and if we were to poach a manager from someone else we would definitely have to sell someone.

So my question is this. Who would you sacrifice from the playing squad in order to fund a change of manager? We don't really have that many salable assets so to change manager we'd probably have to sell one or more of Davis, Lallana, Surman, Skacel or Saga.

Gasmi, Pulis, Smith, JE, BWP, Having off loaded this lot, should cover a new Manager/Coach.

Get rid of Lowey, Jones and all the Dutch Coaching staff, would help save money.

We know that JP will pay his own comp like he did at Helmond....REALLY.

Having closed the corners, we can close the straight bits to save some more money.

Jan will be gutted - has he passed a view on how well you are doing with your job?

Oddly enough no. Of course if I don't do my job to the required standard all that happens is I lose my job, nobody gets relegated, nobody goes into administration, no players have to be sold and nobody has to work out how to get to Carisle for a mideweek match in February.

Nobody is going to want to pay money for Pulis or Gasmi. There might possibly be takers for JE or BWP but they aren't going to fund a new manager (plus they've been among our better players this season, I know that's not saying much).

Lowe isn't going to reach into his own pockets so I ask again. For all those who believe that Jan has had his time who do we sell to fund a replacement?

When Jan does step down he will probably look after the academy and Henderson will take charge.

That would be a good option - the Jan stepping down to the academy bit rather than Henderson taking charge. That way no compensation to be paid and maybe we could afford someone like Adams? We'd still probably be talking about shedding a player to fund it but it could be a Euell rather than a Skacel.

as i said on another thread, there are currently 90 managers out of work so no need to pay compensation to another club.

changing a manager is the easy part, giving that new manager the money to do his job will be the hard part...........for us anyway.

After everything Holloway said today, I would take him tomorrow. He saw all our problems from the off and was spot on in his assessment - no shape, no organisation.

But plenty of people on this forum say the same thing! That doesn't make them a wise choice of manager.

Holloway has achieved nothing that merits his appointment IMO. I'd even have taken that gob****e Billy Davies over him.

So would I.

I was merely pointing out that Holloway would do a better job than the incumbent.

As to what he achieved, asked Dell Days why Plymouth are where they are now.

Bizarre how serial non-achievers Claridge and Holloway can be considered fonts of knowledge to sit in judgement.*

I'd prefer Cotterill to either of those two.Or even Dowie who has ballsed up at his last two clubs.Adams,I thought was at Brighton.

*even if they are correct on this issue

You can judge Lawrie entirely on his own record.

Not everyone who holds that view of our club will be a 'serial non-achiever' because of their view, its just that both Claridge and Holloway are (IMO)in that category.

My point was more to do with them passing judgement as if it were gospel in the media,(and people lapping it up as it suits a purpose).I've also added, that they are right on this issue.
