Plumstead_Saint Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 From the OS: "It has clicked between us," Gorré announced. "With Michael coming in, it means that I will continue to concentrate on the attacking play whilst he will now work on the defensive side of things." Scummer Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 He's only been here a few weeks hasn't he? We haven't been scoring all season. Interesting though, I thought he used to be a defender.

Very strange and confusing...or spin with a new ship and crew...reposition of a few deck chairs or dig at JP.

Interesting though, I thought he used to be a defender. Midfielder apparently. You're right - from the BBC, dated November 28th: "Saints have just appointed former dutch footabll player Dean Gorre as first team coach along side David Hockaday for day to day training of the squad at the st marys club. Mark Wotte and Stuart Henderson stay as youth team bosses." Seeing as Hockaday is on gardening leave I guess they didn't get on!

And we all know that Dodd took a kicking for being a defensive coach when he wasn't one.
Big Ron fan Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 Did Gorre not join immediately after the win at Reading? If so, our record is really, really shocking since he has been involved with the first team. Can one of you stats people put up the league points gained pre and post Gorre's arrival please? Big Ron fan Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 I've answered my own question. Pre-Gorre: P 19, W 5, D 5, L 9, points 20 Post-Gorre: P 10, W 1, D 4, L 5, points 7 (Reading are the only team currently in the top 8 that we have played during this time.) Clearly other factors affect results as well, but it is difficult to find any evidence of Gorre having a positive effect on the team.
Stirchleysaint Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Its really a simple game. Team with better players tend to win more often. We are at best a bottom sixth team, so we need to fight to stay in the top half of that bottom sixth.
ottery st mary Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Are coaches for the Mighty Saints are not what they used to be. When we were in the top league we had top of the range coaches with, money no problem....Since we have dropped down the leagues we have second hand coaches that even need MOTs.Even foriegn ones at that...How sad is that. We will replace the coach with a mini bus if we get relegated again.....
