....or Toby Alderwireld was a fully functioning adult with his own free will, with a support network knowing what his options could be.

The idea that we could have "quickly signed him up" like some kind of hostage with Toby utterly oblivious to any other club ever being interested remains one of most bizarre beliefs on this forum.

 

The achievement was getting him in in the first place and Koeman did brilliantly to get him, albeit for one season.
