Lighthouse Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Sad news really. Wheal is an extremely okay cricketer but to see a second bowler forced into retirement through injury this season isn't nice. 2

Unless the club is on the brink of going pop, with the number of red ball retirements and departures, there should be plenty of new signings. What departures would those be then? Wheal hasn't played for a while, Turner not for ages either and Adams was a batting coach. We've 2 new players and Lumsden has pro status. About equal really so far.

Orr to Middx for starters, Fuller going although he’s replaced by Fynn-Prentice probably. Quite a few who were out of contract as well.
Window Cleaner Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 Well we shall see. I don't see all these departures announced anywhere and I fully expect us to start next season with the side much the same as the last, plus Patel and Hudson Prentice. I just hope that Adams will be replaced by a consequent batting coach.
Window Cleaner Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 I see from the BBC that Orr has gone to Middlesex as expected. Says he's going to play all three formats there, he's not played much T20 apparently, only 19 matches in total so far.
Lighthouse Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Good news, it looks like James Anderson could be available to open our batting. 2

Player-coach options don’t come much better if he wants to keep playing. 50 wickets in Lancs worst ever side in the red ball division Hants will be playing in. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cmy0ek8vnxzko
Lighthouse Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Even if he was 65 I’d have him over Brett Hampton or Codi Yusuf. 2
Vale54 Posted Monday at 07:56 Posted Monday at 07:56 At this rate Anderson might actually improve our batting as well! Joking aside, I'd love to see him involved, even if it's mainly to help the younger bowlers. But Window Cleaner has a point about the batting coach. We can bring in all the bowling experience in the world, but if the top order keeps struggling, we're not going to get very far next season. 1

In his case that would be a Nolle Prosequi for me. We have Abbott and Baker and young bowlers. A real spinner would be by far preferred. Probably won't come cheap either, Sussex would be my favourites to sign him except that they have no money apparently. Probably stay in the North anyway..Durham. Or Derbys, wouldn’t have to move house either. Yorks would be funny! 1

Not many outgoings announced so far. Just Wheal, Orr and Kelly on the playing side. 1

James Fuller listed as looking for work experience in the finance sector and was out of contract.
