still think the transfer window was a success?

as a lot have stated on another thread that they think the recent transfer window was a success.

do they still think it was a success after last night?

because i dont,we may have kept hold of all our players (with the exception of the loans) but tbh were they really worth keeping?

KD looked fragile last night (although he is allowed a bad game),lallana was rubbish, overall the team looked disjointed and instead of using the width to break the 10 men down it was pumped up the middle.

overall one or two players looked ok but the rest didnt give a monkeys, they couldnt cope and were too easily beat by a very poor sheffield side.

as i said yesterday on another thread 'we are walking a tightrope and we didnt invest in a decent harness so it looks likely we will fall'

i felt lower last night than i did after the doncaster game,at least after the doncaster game we still had the transfer window, the hope that some players might be signed, the hope that we could get a better manager, now we dont have that,we are stuck with what we have got (manager and players) and they just are'nt good enough.

maybe our only hope is a few decent loans, but i fear we have left it too late.

our club is dead and the buriel will be at the end of the season. RIP we had some good times together.

I don't really see the connection.

If you are really saying "it wouldn't have mattered if Davies and Surman had been flogged" then fair enough, that's your opinion.

But you and I know that had those players been sold on Monday you and plenty like you would not have shrugged and said "oh, well, they were rubbish anyway".

You would have wanted Lowe's head on a stick.

wrong, lowe needed to act in the transfer window and if that meant flogging surman and lallana to fund a survival push then so be it,we may not like lowe but at least he would have been seen to be doing something.

lallana has done nothing all season imo,he is dead weight and when sheffield went down to 10 men it evened things up as effectively we only had 10 men from the start.

if the rumours are to be beleived about spurs wanting him then we should have taken their money.

this has nothing to do with how i feel about lowe,it is how i feel about saints, the transfer window has gone and we didnt act and now we will reap the rewards for that.........probabally relegation.

If we do go down, and I think that is the most likely scenario, then the damage has already been done.

You're taking three massive leaps - one that we would have got huge amounts of cash for Surman and Lallana, and two that the money we'd got in for those two would have been spent on better replacements and three those better replacements would have slotted into the team and played with the kind of conviction and spirit that for all their faults Adam and Drew do display. Last year's team was chock full of well paid "big name" players and where did that get us? Relegation out of our hands on the final day.

You can get all upset about how we've missed an opportunity this transfer window by not buying many players, but I don't remember seeing that much on here about our lack of purchases during January itself. The rumour angst mill was all about who was being sold.

So few of us realists ever expected a recruitment drive, and very few of the extremists expected one either.

Most of us realists expected one two or three departures.

The first happened as expected, but the second didn't, which is a small mercy.

Be thankful for it, instead of getting worked up about a scenario that frankly was never, ever on the cards.

All due respect Lordswood but if the big offers had come in they would have been sold. The hysteria about some of the players being wanted was always over egged IMO. If we had sold a couple we may have onl6y got 500-700k in and we wouldnt have got much for that.It was unfortunate that the Dutch forward didnt materialise (although I was sceptical about that one anyway)

i still can't believe we haven't brought in a big man up front, someone who can win the ball in the air and hold it up which mcbaldrick hasn't got a clue how to do.how they've stuck with him this long is beyond me.he must be dropped for watford and move euell up
