Youth vs Experience

Some time ago when we were playing very young players there were huge shouts to play the more experienced players. Well this has happened and we've reverted to long ball crap and the experienced players are pretty much awful.

On Saturday we had a wealth of experience in the side (not that you'd have known it):

Davis

Perry

Seijs

Skacel

Wotton

Euell

Saganowksi

For all Arizona's comments about Saga, he has been absolute crap once his goal scoring 'spree' ended and couldn't hit a barn door.

For me I would have Mills over Skacel (what is it with the love in with Skacel: he's crap)

Schneiderlin over Wotton

Paterson/BWP over Saganowski

and possibly Lancashire over Perry/Seijs.

Now instead of being promising, easy on the eye crap we are just plain old crap and one dimensional!

Euell, as much as I hate him and his ability is still a massive black man who is a decent target man. He cant control a ball, strike a ball, and never looks like he knows what he's doing when the ball is anywere near him but he's someone we have to have in the team quite simply because he's strong and can sometimes bring someone else into the game.

Whether they are any good or not, Euell and Saga should start the remaining matches because its our best option. As long as McGoldrick continues to play behind them.

I would love to know how his skin colour makes a difference to his playing ability.

We need a new team and ethos. One that plays men and reinforces with youth. For me (and seemingly every other CCC or Premiership team) the optimal youth/experience balance seems to be:

10 Experienced men starting

1 Youth

3 Men on the bench

2 Youth

That works. It works because youth have to compete for places and prove themselves. It means that they do not pick up niggly injuries early in their careers but are broken in slowly. It means that we have more chance of success. It means the younger players evolve confidence and do not have it gradually sapped from them through defeat and relegation.

You dont win anything with kids, but you may get relegated is the clear lesson to be learnt from Mr Wotte and Lowe's experiment this season.

.... unless they're all super super super talented. And frankly, except Arsenal I cannot see a young side with enough talent to make a real difference anywhere.

What toss.

Until Saturday we had gone from walkovers to reasonably hard to beat. Sadly we are still a few players short from being better than that, but we are where we are and i'm not opening all of that on here when there's 1,547,234 other threads on the subject.

A few of the young lads showed promise but the first two thirds of the season showed they a) weren't all good enough and b) shouldn't be playing together at the same time, but intergrated slowly.

Don't make the comment something it wasn't. It's as bad as blatent racism sometimes. You know he wasn't implying it so don't set it out as if he was.
