Professional footballers (in particuarly, the current crop of rubbish at saints)

I am looking around the threads on here and listening to the current news about our club and its all about our financial situation being horrific. Now what immediately comes to my mind is the players wages. Why haven't they all decided to help the clubs plight by donating a weeks wages? After all the crap they have put us through this year surely its the least they owe us? Or better yet, why don't they just frikking try to win games (if they do try it doesn't show with constant pathetic performances week in week out)!!

 

It really really annoys me how we all work hard all week to find the pennies to go and watch our beloved club play football but all we are really doing is paying ridiculously over the top wages for completely useless and lazy people to kick a football around and be very poor at it too. Why dont they at least try? Why dont they put in spirited performances and show they care? Why dont they try to do something to help out our club in its current slump down the football league? Surely they owe it to us and the community? Why dont they themselves try to help raise money to pay their wages?

 

How do they sleep at night knowing that the general working class public are doing bucket collections and parting with their hard earned money during one of the hardest economic climates for years, just to pay for their over the top wages whilst they go and perform like a tyro team?

 

I cant understand it. We must be morons to support it, we are basically all personally making these players rich for being useless. Its a joke, I think performance related pay should be brought into football. It would definately make games more exciting if the team had to win to get paid, and I bet they would ****ing try hard then!!

 

Anyway I dont know the point in this rant, I dont know why I support saints anymore, I dont know why I care when these overrated prima donnas dont give two ****s. Oh well, at least its over, for another week anyway.

Amen, its amazing how we care so much about it but have pretty much no impact on results! And the people that can impact results dont give a toss!

While I understand your feelings and indeed feel largely the same way, I don't think the majority of the blame can be heaped on the players. For a start the Chairman appoints the manager and look at the dross the team have been presented with this season in JP and Wotte. So the Chairman takes a lot blame. And that's in the background of the team working hard to turn things around last season for a young up and coming English manager in Pearson. JP and Wotte have then decided to persist in a system of football that does not suit the squad - like processing a marshmellow through a cheese grater.

 

In summary, the players are playing the system the manager instructs them to use, by a manager/coaching team installed by the Chairman. So it's not JUST the players. Indeed I would lay odds that a better manager would got more out of the squad.
