The canal is worth a look

Take a walk over the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct. Breathtaking. Especially if you fall.

Yes. As you approach Llangollen, there is a footpath on the right hand side (also shown in the photo).

Formerly a towpath, presumably. You'd hope that the horses didn't look down.

There must be something less boring than walking along a tow path.

White water tagging a few miles away is brilliant. Horseshoe falls. Lots of slate to be had too.

Some stunning scenary get up to, Betws y Coed and surrounding areas if you can

Thanks for all your help. Betsy Cod thingy is a bit far, but I'll do the horseshoe falls and walk the towpath.

A walk up to the ruined castle (dinas bran) above LLangollen is nice - good views from up there (it can get quite windy on top though).

iirc you can jump on a narrowboat towed by a horse across the ponty's**** and walk back.

The bridge over the river in the centre had lads jumping off when we visited, it is some drop and I was impressed. Try that praps?

I almost climbed Snowdon in March (got within 20 mins of the summit) but due to taking the dog had to turn back. I swear I almost died as like a tw/t i decided the route where the train goes would be too easy and instead choe the miners path which was a lovely stroll until the scree scramble. It was f/cking suicidal with a pulling springer, but i'm not one to give up so up we goes. Gets half way and then the hail comes down and I can't turn back cos it would have been certain death going downhill with said pulling dog. Anyways loses the paths, but with luck and tenacity we meet the main path. Was wet and cold and my walking boots were leaking (took them back and got my money back once home) but trudged on until there was this scramble up and along a smooth rock bit which I decided was not possible for the poor dog. So close and yet so far, but turning back was the right decision so no regrets.
