  1. pretty damning opinion of a guy that scored 24 in 37 league games and 28 in 47 games for them last year in his first and only season for them. He scored 5 in 28 when he played for Belgium side Beerschot the season before. If we are going for a 28 year old `proven scorer', it will be Piroe. He ain't signing a new deal IMO and Swansea won't want him walking on a free. If we are looking for young talent that might also make the step up then Archer would be the guy, but he will be very expensive by Championship terms.

  3. are you not impressed with what he has done during the whole one minute he has been afforded so far?
  4. Never seen him play, but amidst the many taps ins (nothing wrong with those of course) there is this https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12186468/shanklands-50-yard-screamer
  5. he scored quite a few last season. Looking at his stats he scored a hat full in the lower Scottish leagues too.
  6. Ipswich?
  7. How about ABK as the new CB if he doesn't depart? Kerber could be that additional depth at CB. He looked impressive in his video, all be it playing at a lower level.
  8. two years left (contracted until June 2025), so this summer is perhaps the optimum time to sell for the biggest price. Everyone has a price, but we are clearly not going to allow him to leave for buttons, I'm guessing £25m, which might explain why Burnley haven't sign him, yet. I think he will be here after the window closes. Unlike the Prem sides, the German teams seem to have limits and they stick to them and move on to the next option, rather than breaking the bank for a player. That still leaves the door for Burnely to come back in, but they seem to have moved on to cheaper targets.

Pretty sure he was offered an enhanced contract about 18 months ago and he turned it down.

Excellent, really glad we have been able to get him from West Ham. At this level, I think he just about as good as you will get. I didn't think we had a chance and was totally wrong about that. I said last year that we should have gone for him and we got there in the end, although a note of warning, some of my previous HCDAJFU recommendations that have actually happened include Redmond and Aribo.
  11. not sure. Do we have someone decent lined up to replace him? How much would you want to let him go?
  12. is it 5 bookings for a suspension?
  13. I notice McCarthy wasn't on the bench on Saturday. Was he injured, or is that a definitive sign that a deal with Palace or whoever is close? I noticed Palace were linked to Henderson at the weekend, which assumably would end any interest in McCarthy.
  14. Personally, I think all professional sports teams should have to select a guy from the crowd to play. By doing so it can reveal just how much bigger, faster, fitter and skillful these guys are than the man on the street. When all the players are pros and similar, they tend to cancel each other out and you sometimes take for granted just how good they are. Get an Alex Law or whoever in and you can once again really appreciate what you are watching in regards to the other guys.
  15. Not wanting to start yet another Saints vs Leicester comparison, but Daka is wanted by Monaco, so may leave still. Palace are interested in their keeper and Ihenacho, so it's not like they are much different to us. Players that can do it in the Prem usually find their way back into the Prem. They obviously went Winks, and we went for Charles. It will be very interesting to see how those two deals pan out, short and long term, as the transfer fees seemed similar. Not sure about wages...
  16. I agree with you. Some seem to have quickly forgotten that we spent £130m-160m in the previous two windows, with almost nothing coming in the other way. So all this money coming in will balance that out to a degree. We've spent a decent sum on Charles and I fully expect us to spend a chunk on a striker if/when Che goes.
  17. Wouldn't Aribo also be classified as an attacking midfielder and someone said Doyle played in a more attacking midfield role too.
  18. if you have already had a successful season on loan in the championship, you'd think the next step is to play in the Prem, perhaps on loan at Sheff United again or someone else ...not go back out on loan to a championship side.
  19. lets hope we sign an Ings not an Onuachu.
  20. what a good question, and (just as I am about to retire for evening) I will concede to your better judgement that keeping Che perhaps makes total sense, although I will leave you with: sell him in 2014 and we perhaps get £40m and sign a top class replacement. Sell him in 2015 for £25m and we only have enough to buy Jordy fucking Clasie.
  21. so what are you calling now, selling Che is an error? Or are you going to wait to see who we do or don't sign first before calling it?
  22. Who says we are offering players we want around? The business case is very different compared to Che, as Alcarez has a long contract - he ain't walking for free next summer. If someone comes in with a £40m bid tomorrow morning, which is perhaps what we think he might become, we'd sell.
  23. who are you talking about? Do you not think there are any decent strikers out there somewhere that we could buy? I know our track record ain't good.
  24. I think it more likely that he wanted more money than we wanted to pay him. He may also have wanted to move to a `bigger' club, like Everton. Neither changes.
  25. yeah, ok. I don't agree, but it matters not. Che is departing. He has been since he turned his nose up at our contract offer.
