Put the money thing to one side for a second. If a Prem side comes in for a player, you do have to take into account the feelings of the player. If they really want that move, you can hold them to their contract, but do you really want to? It's not quite as simple as saying no. If the eventual offer is sizeable for KWP, then he'll depart. It may not be big enough though
-
The deal will be done. They won't let a £10m asset walk on a free.
-
I missed that. Slightly surprised since he's not played there for a few years.
-
You hold off signing the scrib sheet until your own deal is signed is one option. Or you sell (to prevent losing £15m asset for free next summer) and muddle through with the four other strikers on the books is another.
-
Only teams with a parachute could get those players (which is a big gripe of championship sides - the playing field isn't level). If we can get the team to gel and replace the last few Prem bound players with similar quality, then we have a good chance.
-
Do you want to watch him for three years?
-
Not easy finding strikers that actually can score goals in the Prem, especially if you don't have oil money. Everton and Wolves have done so. Even United and Chelsea haven't had one for a couple of years.
-
Not surprising. Amazed he is still here. Just ABK, Sulemana and Che until the complete set are gone, which is what was predicted. The squad is starting to look like a championship squad. Let's hope it's a good one.
-
One. He scored someing like 7 and 5 goals in the first two seasons. But he was young.
-
Similar being said on Everton fans pages, but who knows what the split is.
-
Could do, but his value will drop even further and he will be very close to being a free transfer and the extra riches and opportunities that offers.
-
Good point, but maybe a deal for ABK or Lyanco has been agreed and just hadn't been revealed. That said, if ABK played in the friendly, it can't be for him.
-
Isn't it more likely ABK and/or Lyanco depart? Giving us four CBs
-
What's our options now to replace Che? Shankland, Zekiri, Ings, Keiffer Moore, Aaron Collins... Any other ideas?
-
Agreed. He hasn't played right back for three seasons. He's come as a CB that can play RB.
-
yes, I know the argument for keeping him, but, assuming he goes, why are we selling him then? You say there is no reason, but we are, so what is the reason?
-
Holgate is replacing Lyanco, isnt he? Wood replacing ABK. Is Djenepo off? I'd of thought he'd be keen to play some football, but its been very quiet about him.
-
seems to have a lot of hamstring issues too.
-
Interesting. I thought he was technically good but not physical enough, especially in the air?
-
that's not good news. If he said there was no discussions with Saints, then we can be confident we had another target. Now we are looking at plan B, whatever that is. Doesn't mean things won't work out, but its not obvious who is available to us. Hopefully there is a gem ready to be revealed.
-
he dominated at their place. It's not surprising they fancy him.
-
I don't think it's a panic signing. As with Holgate, we were heavily linked with him earlier in the summer and he is likely to be another of the players RM mentioned as being `lined' up. I think the Pansil move has evolved and might be more about us getting rid of Onuachu. Genk just do not have the money to buy Onuachu, so a trade was thought up.
-
OK. Assuming Tella does go, and we don't know yet - why are we selling him?
-
after seeing what happened with Onuachu and Orsic (getting no opportunities) and players like Sulemena and ABK kind of stuck here because we want a lot of money for them, perhaps Leeds, and their willingness to include low get out clauses in contracts are more appealing? Hopefully he's shit. The last player they signed that we also wanted was the fullback Junior Firpo and has been a complete disaster for them.
-
Tella to Fraser. Depressing downgrade, but we were relegated, so we can't expect to get stronger when we replace outgoing players like JWP etc.
