I'm not sure you can trust these stories about Paintsil. I imagine it's just the normal contract negotiations, but these twitter posts are making things seem like the end of the world has just happened.

The reporting on this transfer could very well be skewing things. For all we know (and I would bet) he has been extremely keen to join us. Obviously his agent will be working to get him the best deal possible from current and new club. His current club will be trying to get the best deal for themselves. He may have already done his medical today, never mind him being prepared to get on a plane...

happy days. Unlike with Carillo, we actually get something when he departs. Lets hope its an asset not a liability.
-
dunno, but from the five minute video I just watched he looks like one of those wingers that have fast legs but don't run all that fast, appears to have the ball under control but it never is, threatens but never threatens, shoots but never scores... ...my hopes are not high. Which means things can only work out better than I had hoped.
-
I would suggest the two clubs have probably been discussing/negotiating this for weeks not just a couple of days/hours. The media don't report on these things in real time.

As we said when Dortmund are said to be out, ABK will end up at Dortmund. If his buyout clause is €25m (who knows if that is true) then the price is right, even if the format is unorthodox.

why didn't Burnely go back for Harwood-Bellis?
-
A Prem side wants him. That's all that matters. From a career point of view you need to play at the top level. I don't blame him for wanting a move.
-
train drivers are usually at the right place at the right time (although not always), but a postman always delivers...that's the kind of striker you want.
-
if I was him I'd do my best to get a move to a prem side, paying me a shit load more than I will be at Saints and giving me 38 Prem games in which to look the nuts and get a mega money move to Chelsea.
-
I was going to say the same thing. They want him. The deal isn't dead. I know they have struggled to sell players this summer, but they are still £50m to the good transfer fee wise, so there could still be money there. That said, they usually overspend on wages big style and recoup their losses through player sales - so the £50m may not exist.
-
Stewart signs on the dotted line, we sanction the Che move. Sounds simple, but it relies on two deals being done in two days, including very important medicals. We could do with Sunderland agreeing to our offer this evening...but they seem to be waiting for their own striker deal for Nazariy Rusyn to be completed. We have a domino rally in the offing.

I think Sulemana is a much better (more refined) prospect than Djenepo. I can understand the club's thinking. They really rate him, which is why they spent so much on him. I've no problem with them holding out for that. It may backfire though, which is why I think they choose to loan him rather than have him upset the apple cart. Very intriguing situation.
-
I'd accept bids for Onuachu and Sulemena right up to 11pm. ABK, KWP and Adams would be dependant on us being able to do a deal to bring in a replacement. IMO: Wood will come in. ABK will be sold. Stewart will come in, Che will be sold. Sulemena will go out on loan and so will Onuachu. KWP...I don't want to hear his name mentioned until Saturday, but I fear his transfer will just come out of nowhere. He's too good a player for the Championship. I think West Ham will sign him, with Ben Johnson coming here, on loan, maybe.
-
Not sure anyone has bid for Tall Paul, which is not surprising. Dortmund supposedly only have £10m to spend, so both they and Bayern just seem to want to take ABK on loan. That doesn't meet your criteria. If clubs like them want him, he must be decent, so they come up with the money or fuck off. Wanting £30m for Sulemena is a lot, but many on here have been saying we should not allow these guys to go cheaply. Whether Everton really offered £21m is debatable. How much Nice offered earlier in the summer I don't know, but I am guessing £15m max. Neither offer gets our money back. Do we accept a lower figure and then cry about it when he flashes brilliance at Everton and becomes a £50m player?
-
Very little. If they had it, they'd of used it by now. A Painsil transfer would bring in some money but he doesn't seem to be moving, certainly not quickly. They will want a risk and relatively cost free loan. We might blink at last minute and grant them that. Strikers are hard to come by, so I imagine we will hold out until tomorrow and then take whatever is on offer on Friday.

what do mean `here still'? He ain't been here (at training) all week apparently. If Genk come up with £8m he's gone.
-
would explain why he was seen at training this week.
-
I don't blame players for wanting to move to other, bigger clubs and for more money and prestige. It's their career after all and playing in the Championship doesn't really enhance it.
-
If they are not going to be part of the match day squad, maybe not much point in them working on the things relevant to the game ahead. So makes sense for them to be kept apart - assuming they are being moody and not training properly. If they are training perfectly well, then not sure making them work separately is a great idea. If they are being professional, return that favour. Strange that Sulemana and ABK seemed to be in the training photos - you'd think they were part of that small group. So, maybe that small group was just Onuachu? Things move fast of course, so maybe it was training today rather than Monday he was talking about and the group had expanded.
-
said earlier that I thought that was a better fit for Palace. They already have big strong target men. What they are after is more goals from that central guy. Not sure Adams offers then that. Bournemouth seem like a decent option if they have lost faith with Moore. I am surprised Sheffield United haven't bid, but maybe he's turned them down.
-
You want them to treat him like a valuable asset and essential player, so supposedly with kid gloves in order not to totally destroy any relationship left between player and club, but at the same time you want them to put their foot down? Which is it? I'm not entirely sure what you want the club to do here or handle this situation. Maybe you can expand for clarity? I've been saying for weeks that the home treatment thing was complete and utter bollocks and he had in fact gone awol/on strike as he was miffed at the club preventing him moving to the French clubs earlier in the window.
-
If he and his agent agreed to a £30m release clause (should that be accurate and actually exist), then he can have no complaints should we not have accepted any lower bid that might have come in for him. I'm not sure that clause exists. What exactly does it mean when a player hands in a transfer request? What actually changes? Is it just that the player puts it on record that he wants to leave (so what I think we know that already), does he waiver the right to any loyalty bonus or does it actually force us to do anything other than deny it? In other word, what's the point of requesting a transfer?
-
Like with Sulemana, Gnonto has a very long contract (until 2027), so like us with Sulemana, a very large price tag has been put on him, something like £50m was mentioned (£30m for Sulemana). Both seemed very unhappy, as the price tag prevents them moving. Both went on strike. Neither has gone yet. Gnonto has come back into the fold, Not sure if Sulemena has or not. The difference with Tella is that we were at that two year sweet spot, where the transfer fee is likely to be as high as it gets (if we were in the Prem and he performed then it could have possibly gone up, but we are not). If we were unable to get him to sign a new deal, which we obviously weren't, then (as a football business) you need to consider selling.
-
good point. Does he usually do two a week?
