Parachute payment have nothing to do with the wages of the team. Relegated sides get a percentage of the equally shared element of broadcasting rights each Premier League club receives. That's the combined UK (£32m) and International rights (£49m), so £81m in total. The percentages are 55% in the first year (£44.5), 45% in year two (£36m) and 20% in the third year £16.2m). So we are going to go from Prem money of £115m(that's the £81m equal share plus the variable merit payments) to just £44.5m.

You could argue that the owners took a punt when they forked out another £50m in the January window...and look to have lost. A bit like last time with Lowe, the summer might be all about avoiding financial ruin.
-
we will be desperate to lose McCarthy from the wage bill. As with many, it will easier said than done.
-
Clubs that have been in the Prem for a decade that get relegated (like us) have unsustainable wage bills. Over the next two years, we will need to offload pretty much everyone.
-
What's our relegation got to do with his Individual talent? Good players can be in shit teams. Roy Keane, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick Jemaine Defoe, Peter Crouch, James Milner, Andy Roberson...all had relegation on their CVs.

we'll see. The Championship wasn't that much fun the last time we were relegated. The first season was a shit show and there was a possibility we could have been relegated but for a decent run when Burley came in. The play off challenge was good, but the following two seasons were horrific. It wasn't just `hangers on' that disappeared. There was less than 10k watching us lose at home midweek against Sheffield United. And I can tell you as one of those it wasn't great fun or a better atmosphere. Our debts and wage bill are much bigger this time around. It's relative of course, but don't expect the summer to be about refreshing the squad, it will be about offloading as many players we can for as much as possible to avoid a financial meltdown.
-
Do we? Selles has only signed a contract until the end of this season. So, fans speculating on who the manager will be next season is not a `failure to accept reality'. It's a genuine possibility that he does not get a new contract and we appoint someone else.
-
Burnley's sales after relegation might give some insight into the likely incomes. Collins was sold for £20m. Cornet for £17m, McNeil (one year on contract) went for £15m, Pope for £10m.
-
no, it's about 0.5% of the £150m turnover.

we can pass the ball under no pressure all day long. When the space disappears, the lack of quality, first touch, dribbling skill, creativity and talent starts to show. The slow build up means everyone is back. We then struggle to break teams down. The alternative is to sit deep rely on our defence to hold firm (don't make me laugh) and play on the break, but we are shit at that too.

By my fag packet maths, we are £85m short and that's to make a £13m loss, so we are actually about £98m short to break even. A 25% reduction in wages only saves £28m. 40% reduction saves £45m. Let's go with the higher figure. We still need to find £53m just to stop adding to the debt. Actually, £8m will be added in interest, so it's actually £61m to stop the debt rising, but hey, who's counting? And that's just for year one. Every year we are in the Championship is a year of further loss making. Pretty much every senior player will be on wages too high for the Championship. They will all need to go, but only Ely, Theo and Willy are out of contract.

He looks a poor signing at this moment in time. He is not ready for the Prem. In a few years, he might be great, but he hasn't improved us. Not sure what difference a striker would have made to his displays. His lack of a final ball was part of the goal scoring problem
-
He's played both left wing and left midfield and looked poor in both positions. Not sure what `his way' is.
-
I didn't have a problem starting him, as I think Onuachu is a donkey, but he didn't have a good game. Who did have a good game though?
-
Orsic has been shite in every game he has played. Onuachu played well at Chelsea but shit in other games. Salamena has flashed his pace, but in general hasn't been all that effective. Alcaraz has been a little hit and miss. Every player in the squad has been given a look in now.
-
Agree, it was pretty even. West Ham were so fucking bad in the first half, yet they finished it leading. That's how crap we are.
-
If you can't get in this side, then you must either be shit or can't be bothered.
-
This. We are down.
-
It was basically the same against Leeds away. We pass it and keep the ball Ok in our on third. Lavia and JWP ensure that. Every now and then we manage to work the ball between the lines...and then nothing. Sulemana injected a little bit of pace, but overall the quality and creativity in that final third is pretty non existent. That said, we lost the game because we conceded and DCC's complete lack of effort for that set pecee needs looking at. He simply can't be bothered to even run back never mind win the header. Joke.
-
we'll see. I bet there will be several `Jack Rodwell's' in this side that end up picking up £70k a week in the third tier.
-
No.
-
West Ham with 10 men behind the ball. Gonna be tough to create a chance never mind score.
-
Bazunu got his positioning wrong for that freekick. it wasn't a great shot. If it had been, he wouldn't have got there.
-
the fact we are not good enough to create any good chances against this load of shite just shows how shite we are. Unless we get two late goals here, we really are down.
-
We bought Onuachu?
