I agree travelling fans can voice their opinion how they like, but I have to say when the fans booed at the solitary long ball of the first half, I wasn't impressed. We didn't play long balls today. It was short stuff out from the back. I know we are all very frustrated, but it seems some couldn't wait to find a stick to beat Jones' back with. Playing long sometimes makes sense. If you become predictable, as we had under Ralph, you get caught in possession and it leads to goals conceded.

I have said this almost from day 1, he is not good enough for this level of football. He's a championship level full back. Plenty of effort, but too slow and technically not quite good enough. As a back up, he would be fine, but he should not be first choice. Larios also puts a shift in, and has better technique, but again he is too slow and he's not first choice quality at this point. Left back is a weakness for us. One of many.

Selection was/is very debatable. But we played four at the back, with Lyanco having a very good game against Zaha. He gave Aribo a free role and he did fuck all. Edozie and AA on the wings did OK. Two central midfielders. We could easily have been 2-0 down, but second half of first half was mostly us keeping the ball and not threatening. Second half was mostly us. We pressed and forced Palace to make errors. The goal just before half time gave us confidence and my guess is Jones asked the side to push up a little and get tighter, be more physical and they were. Deserved the victory, all be it we struggled to create chances. We were't great. Palace are struggling too, but we got hod of the game and were pretty tight at the back. Palace also struggling to create much. Two poor sides. Great to win.

People have made their minds up NJ is shit, and "3 at the back long ball" have become sticks to beat him with. Even when we pass it short, out from the back for the entire game, the word "ugly' football is used to describe us to undermine him. We are not great.
