  1. either change the formation or play that flair player off Broja, as we have done a fair bit with Redmond this season.
  2. I agree with this. We signed Djenepo to do this but he has provided almost nothing. We need to try again to find a flamboyant pacey flair player.
  3. of course players can get injuries in all sorts of ways, but an opponent raking their studs down your thigh, is one that can be prevented. And isn't stopping bad fouls, that have the potential to cause injury, such as high raised boots with studs up, exactly what the law makers have been trying to do, by punishing them with reds? I perhaps need to watch it again, but my instant reaction was it `could' well be a red from the ref or if not the VAR may ask him to have another look. I was obviously wrong.
  4. I assume the word `dangerous' refers to danger of causing an injury, then what does that injury need to be? I don't know the current law, so just asking. When I played it was a yellow, but today, I think it's possibly touch and go.
  5. I'm surprised they didn't ask the ref to have another look. Glad they didn't.
  6. he certainly did, but for Sterlings chance saved by Forster, he literally stands there in no mans land and watches Sterling run into the box. If Sterling had scored, which he should have done, I'd of been fuming. Three minutes later he's nicking off Debryne's boot. Maybe he felt guilty at his lack of effort just before. Glad h got the chance to redeem himself.
  7. he rakes him with his studs down his thigh. It wasn't a good tackle. I'm not sure what the law says, but its got to be classified as dangerous play
  8. Battled right to the end. Excellent point. We had one or two chances to extend our lead too. A little disappointing not to be able to keep the ball a little more. It was attack vs defence for almost all the game really. They are in a different league to us though I suppose.
  9. we don't have the ability to keep the ball for three passes, but boy are we working hard when we lose it.
  10. ugly tackle to be fair from a tired player
  11. Get Che off. Knackered. And maybe fresh legs in midfield too.
  12. well done Broja. Needed an out ball so badly.
  13. the high line is just an excuse for not bothering to defend free kicks. We've got lucky so many times in previous games. Not this time.
  14. So lazy by Redmond there not getting back to mark Sterling
  15. Lloris likely to sign a new deal at Spurs, which surprises me to be honest. Not a great keeper, but maybe their isn't good/better options available to them. Possibly/probably puts their connection to Johnstone to bed, unless he joins as back up.
  16. He lost his place, but KWP has the shirt now and who knows, will Tino get it back this season? Tino started brilliantly, but he faded and defensively he hasn't convinced me to be honest. He ball watches and positionally he can be suspect. We have looked more solid with KWP at right back. I think it would be a bloody shame to lose KWP.
  17. Not sure which Forest games you've watched, but Spence has stood out in the games I've watched. Going forward he's very good, with skills and pace. In that Arsenal game you mention, defensively he looked a little exposed, but that has not been the case against Championship opposition. Forest have played with 5 at the back a fair bit, which gives him a licence to bomb forward. Since Cooper came in, Forest have been much more attacking and Spence has benefited from that From what I am told by my brother in law, most Boro fans are surprised he was loaned out and there have been widespread calls to bring him back in January. Spence however isn't keen and wants to see the season out at Forest, as he's enjoyed it so much. Keep in mind that it was Warnock that didn't fancy him and Boro were utter shite under him. £12m has been mentioned, but he's only got 18 months left on his contract, so Boro will be lucky to get that unless it's right now.
  18. I wonder what the philosophy of the new owner/management team is relating to agents fees, especially when dealing with out of contract, but in demand players? Previously we haven't managed to pick up too many out of contract players, which can be for any number of reasons, not least that we might not have wanted them, but perhaps the huge agents fee required these days (not to mention larger player wages) has put us off? If you are simply paying the multi millions to the agent/player in a signing on fee, rather than a transfer fee to the selling club, the total cost of ownership might exceed that of an alternative, `in contract' player. Carvalho for example, will no doubt be far from free. You let you contract run down for a reason - massive signing on fee and much bigger wage, compensating for the lack of a transfer fee. Maybe its time to start reporting these deals as complete packages, including all costs, as was the case with the recent `Harland to Real Madrid £292m package' news story that did the rounds.
  19. I've lost count the number of times he's got the ball stuck under his feet. Injured from the off, lots of niggling injuries thereafter and a failure to take the chances offered him so far. Still only 23, but with 18 months left on his contract he needs to do something in the second half of the season, otherwise we'd be looking to offload in the summer to try and recoup a few bob of the £14m we spent. Doubt anyone is going to pay a fee though. They'll just sign him on loan and then pick him up for free the summer after.
  20. getting an exciting young player on a `free'. Sounds too good to be true. Can't recall us managing to grab talent like that before. Perhaps the Livramento signing will stand us in great stead if we are genuinely interested. Lots of nice stuff on the youtube video. We badly need to upgrade Djenepo.
  21. gotto say, certainly nothing to gain by making the move right now. May as well wait until the summer. He can consider his route to the first team at Chelsea depending on their transfer dealings, look for another loan, perhaps at a bigger club than us and who knows, the likes of Spurs, West Ham etc. might come in for him, giving Broja a stack of options. This as got a `Lukaku-WBA loan-Everton sale' type outcome written all over it.
  22. I had to Google it. I totally forgot that Tom Heaton was seeing out his career with a big club third choice keeper contract. Henderson is going nowhere. He might want a move, but United are never gojng to allow it in January.
  23. I am not saying you are wrong about how they have used him, he was certainly pushed out wide far too quickly, but the long and short of it is, when he has had decent goalscoring opportunities, and there have been quite a lot, on the whole, he just has not taken them. A lot of that is down confidence, which seemed to go pretty quickly. There have been a few spells when he looked like he was back on his game, but not many. Get the fully confident Werner and you'll get that one in two striker. That might require a move as he wasn't exactly given a second chance, in the form of a long run of games down the middle when Lukaku was injured. However, someone that signs for Chelsea for £48m won't be on wages that we could afford, probably even if they paid half!
  24. played well first half, less so second. No need to feel downbeat. On another day we'd get something from the game. Some tough games coming up, but we're playing OK.
  25. None of that has any bearing on the discussion as to whether we could do better with the funds brought in through his sale. We bought him for £5m. Sell him for £15m (for example) and maybe we can sign a better player than we did. Of course our chat changes nothing, but I have no idea why you come to a forum if it is not to discuss the abilities of players at the club.
