I remember, when we played Sunderland in a similar situation, near the end of the season. It was the last game at Roker Park (under floodlights) and we won 0-1. Sunderland went down a couple of weeks later, and we stayed up.

Makes me laugh, this game could mean nothing, IF Wigan do not win tomorrow. Well nothing to us anyway. Tell you what, I would not want this crowd on my back!

Lets put it this way, the teams at the bottom, apart from our team will need a great run of results..... It is highly unlikely we will not get a point, and Wigan or Villa win away to arsenal and Chelsea respectively, when they are after the champions league spot. If we do go down, it will be a terrible run of results for a team that is playing some great stuff, apart from WBA last week.

Yes but Villa will be below us on goal difference, unless they get something at Chelsea. The key to us getting a point is that Villa play Wigan on the last day. They both cannot go above us.

Just got to hope that Swansea get a result on Tuesday, and then I think that will be it. Wigan win, and we need a point or even better a win!

Now this is far to sensible, but of course being a Saints fan, I think Norwich will beat WBA, Newcastle will beat QPR and Wigan will beat Swansea, Sunderland will beat stoke! Of course all we need to do is win a sodding game!

If we get a point next week and they lose at Chelsea they won't be. Then the last game is Wigan v Villa. Both will not be able to go above us.

Just worked it out, that if we held on for the point today, and presuming that arsenal beat Wigan and Chelsea beat villa, we would be safe, as the last game of the season, Wigan would need to beat Villa, where villa would need a point to go above us. So I go back on my post earlier in the thread and think a point next week, will be massive!
