Ta, Richard, Did you look them up when you were out there, btw?
-
Tim, if he had 2 tickets in business class would Ron be fit enough to travel to the UK?

Bookies odds on next Southampton manager
Fitzhugh Fella replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
The longer there is no appointment the more I think they are waiting for Strachan's return -
and if they don't????????? don't see why passing on a rumour from an excellent source should make me look foolish. By your reasoning the'd be plenty of fools on here. Seem to remember you've been caught with your pants down once or twice too

I wonder if Dr Al Fahim knows Tony Lynam?
-
I wouldn't say his praise for Rupert was "strong" - there are parts in the book when he is quite critical. One instance mentioned was just before the start of last season, after ringing Rupert up to enquire after a Saints player Lowe had boasted that "with his youth Saints were going to storm the league". Jones found that quite amusing I gather. In his first day at Saints he met 3 members of SISA in the car park who virtually threatened him if he ever dropped MLT. He went to say, in his opinion SISA had too big an input in the running of Saints. Quite an odd thing to say I thought.

Can someone tell me why so many Pompey fans contribute on a Saints forum? Haven't they got their own to inhabit?
-
Like the man said - go follow cricket or at least get a sense of humour.
-
Perhaps a poll Would you be happy to see Pompey go out of business YES or NO? Should be a fairly entertaining debate. And then perhaps the Pompey forum could do similar. I would lay a fiver that a higher % of Blue fans would vote "yes" than red.

I agree but Henderson experimenting now will have little relevance until the new manager is in place. Tactically we are in limbo.
-
Agree but I read somewhere Wotte was talking to a player he wanted to sign and I guess AO thought it unfair to prolong the pretence. I hope Henderson is concentrating on fitness because he can't really do a lot more.

According to "5 Live" tonight the deal is far from near finalisation because although DD is complete there is still a wide chasm on agreement on the price and, even if it is agreed, finance has not yet been arranged. Reading between the lines they were saying it looks dodgy. Storrie lies like a cheap watch and Sky buy the deceit. (They bought the Pinnacle story, remember, hook line and sinker). I remain confident in my source (despite aintforever's doubts) and I would still put a large sum on the fact this "Jacko in a dish dash" cannot and does not want to deliver. He is an attention seeker.

LC paid the £500,000+. He then became part of Pinnacle. Pinnacle weren't what they then claimed.

Science fiction versus factual history!

My Dad has being saying we are cursed since 1949 when we failed to go up despite being umpteen points clear at Easter. Nothing now will ever change his mind. Even when we went about 6 years without missing a penalty he was always grumbling that "we always miss pens"!

We're not though - we are "owned" by one of the richest men in Europe. There is a difference.

Lowe did have a point and did do us a favour
Fitzhugh Fella replied to shurlock's topic in The Saints
According to Fry in Saturday's Echo (very interesting Q and A) SFC was, 2 weeks ago, a whisker from liquidation. Had that happened - and Fry was resigned to it happening - then I doubt this thread would ever have been started. We came very very close to the brink and I am afraid there is one man far more responsible than anyone else for that scary scenario. I think Lowe always thought he was doing what was right, in his eyes, for the club but he was massively flawed and wrong in his vision. He's gone, we survived by the skin of our teeth (no thanks to Pinnacle and other tyre kicking idiots) and we are now in the hands of Andy Oldknow believe it or not. I await developments with interest. The appointment of our new manager will be the biggest decision in years - lets hope he get's it right. -
I would rather have Lowe back as manager and I am being serious. Andy I know you read this site - please NO.

I can tell you they first contacted Mark Fry on 29th April and they pulled out on June 30th, 10 whole days after exclusivity had lapsed. Therefore they were "around" for more than 2 months.
-
Indeed McG would have gone whatever I suspect but not Drew. Whether or not you like him is irrelevant really - he went to pay the staff and adminstrators and had Pinnacle not delayed the Swiss taking over by 6 weeks then that would not have been neccessary. If Surman turns into a world super star (unlikely I know) we will all be hacked off he was forced to leave because a couple of North London property developers fancied making a few bob. Sorry haven't a link, Alpine but I quoted some relevant excerpts in my first post on page 1.
-
Don't think LC is too happy either and I think Drew Surman would have been quite happy to still be a Saint next season. Don't get me wrong I am delighted to have my club owned by what appears to be an absolute godsend and one who is exceedingly wealthy and doesn't smuggle guns but I still think initial aspects of the attempted Pinnacle purchase were not handled well. Tbh I am surprised that the carpet at SMS has any room for any more dirt. When Wilde came I was one of the first lemmings over the cliff celebrating the demise of Lowe. 2nd time around I prefer to spare a second looking over my shoulder.
-
Alpine I suggest you do read the interview before making your mind up and also can I say if Pinnacle had not been given undeserved exclusivity then Surman and McGoldrick might still be wearing the red and white of Saints tomorrow at Dean Court. That very fact alone means it is far from history.
-
I certainly agree Fry has some questions he needs answering. In last night's Echo Cortese said even as Pinnacle was given exclusivity " I told him (Liebherr) there was a bit of evidence that the group might not be in a position to complete and we became convinced it was the case......." He also says later in the article "we felt a bit misled" . These are points Fry should clear up - in those 4 weeks while we waited for Pinnacle to sign off the deal Begbies pocketed nearly a quarter of a million.

But it is not our money that is wasted don't forget.
