  10. BBC commentator reckons we are flattered by our league position on that 1st half display. Time to make him eat his words 2nd half
  11. The fact we are top at this stage proves the decison to go with the exisiting squad with minimum changes to have some some degree of merit!
  12. Why get frustrated this is a forum for all fans to express their ideas no matter how in depth the analysis or the logic that helped them to arrived at them it is of course Nigel Adkins and the board rather than any of us on here who will make the ultimate decisons to be acted on. The fact is you are never going to agree with all of the people all of the time so learn to accept it, and put forward constructive arguments to support your views rather than criticise others for theirs.
  13. A few that come to mind from 70's onwards to chuck into the mix Saints players who came up from the youth team and cost us nothing such as Terry Paine/ Martin Chivers/Channon/Le Tiss/Shearer/ D Wallace/ Rod Wallace/ Nick Holmes/ Steve Williams / Matt Oakley/ Andrew Surman/ Gareth Bale / Walcott / Chamberlain and Lalanna including Unsung heroes like Tony Funnel who played a crucial cameo part at the end of the season and got us promoted in 77/78 and Steve Moran another club product who scored some great goals in the top divsion when our team was playing at its highest ever level Great Keepers such as Shilton (greatest number of caps for saints), Flowers, Naiemi and a mention for Turner and Martin Classy forwards Boyer/ Macdougal / Colin Clark(all ex Bmth) Keegan, Osgood, Charlie George Frank worthington Rugged Centre Backs John Mcgrath/David Watson/Chris Nicholl/Svensson/Mel Blyth/Lundekvam/Ruddock Charecter Full backs Golac, Dennis, David Peach, Joe Kirkup Cameos Ronnie Eklund, Charlie George, Kerry Dixon and even Ali Dia Influential Mids such as Andy Townsend, David Armstrong, Alan Ball/ Jimmy Case/ Mark Hughes/ Carlton Palmer? (he did play for England somehow) Wingers Fernandes/Terry Curren/Sydenham
  14. Agree our away form has been average however the home form has more than compensated. that is why we are top. repeat our form for the second half of the season and we will be top by a canter.
  15. Given we are still to go up and bolton are yet to go down what is the point of this now?
  16. Actually the football league from inception till the arly 1970's used goal average as the tie breaker (dividing goals scored by goals conceded). As this favoured the defensive sides who conceded less it was changed to goal difference, a few years later the 3 points for a win was introduced too as opposed to 2both these were done to encourage more scoring and going for wins.
