What a shame you didn't take the time and trouble to read the whole article published in an academic American journal. Or is 'academic' beyond you? QED

It's market forces, isn't it. Given the current inability of many people to buy houses, thus stagnating the housing market, the developers simply build up their land banks. If they were to start to build on that land, the price of new houses would be a tad more realistic because the supply of new housing would increase (and also this would include social housing as permissions tend to require a percentage of affordable / social housing on any reasonably sized development). There used to be a rule of thumb - the tradesman working on an 'average' house used to be able to afford to buy it. Not the case now, I think.

Firefox because it's not IE - no complaints and easier to use IMO -

Southampton Player Trivia: Anyone know any pointless facts?

When, in 1969, we were looking to relocate back to the Southampton area, we looked at Terry Paine's house in Bitterne Park that was up for sale. I remember seeing his caps and trophies in a display cabinet. We didn't buy the house. -
And that's why, knowing you lot as I do, I deliberately said 'external kitchen door'
-
One of my daughters got married in April. When they got back to their house the next day, to collect their bags for the honeymoon they discovered that their external kitchen door was smashed in. Luckily the perp hadn't managed to actually get into the house. And even luckier, they'd only recently had the door installed to replace a very old wooden single glazed door. They had to delay their 'mini-moon' (only going away for 3 nights) to wait for the police and forensics. In the end, we stayed in their house until they got home to act as security guards

My father built a house for Mick Channon and also built the house that David Peach lived in (although he didn't build it specifically for him) -

"The prime minister drove back to the pub and found Nancy helping staff." http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/jun/11/david-cameron-daughter-behind-pub?CMP=SOCNETTXT6966 Do you suppose she was on one of those unpaid internship thingies? Or, like the 'volunteers' for the Jubilee celebrations, was she offered a nearby bridge to sleep under should her parents have failed to collect her?

I didn't really want to stop but I was getting increasingly concerned that my grandchildren might be influenced by my habit. I didn't ever smoke in a confined space with them around but I did nip out into the garden for a quick one when looking after them. I think the turning point was when my 3 year old grandson said 'Are you going out for a cigarette, Nana?'. And, if I'm honest, I really can't afford it - or put another way, I'd rather spend what I'm saving on the grandchildren. So I'm feeling a bit holy ATM and hoping I don't revert.
