  1. There is plenty of 'Free Palestine' graffiti around the Gallowgate area of Glasgow (I'm aware that's also down to the link between Palestine and the IRA). Celtic also display plenty of anti-fascist banners at games as well. Politics does play a big part in it all still.
  2. It's one of the main aspects of the rivalry. Celtic are very much left wing and politics does play a large role in the rivalry. Both clubs have big links with HSV (Rangers) and St Pauli (Celtic) that mainly comes down to political views as well.
  3. HSV v St Pauli Atlanta v Lazio Hansa Rostock v St Pauli Celtic v Rangers
  4. Would appear to be sunflower seeds...
  5. I saw them in November against Greuther Furth and loved it there. Decent ground, nice terrace and a good atmosphere. Done a fair bit of Germany and Europe in general and Düsseldorf is the best drinking city I've ever come across. Shame them and Koln bypassed each other or otherwise that would've been a must-do for me next season.
  6. Could always hold it in Hungary... The Panorama documentary didn't go down too well with the locals it will seem... And what Panorama failed to mention, the Ultra groups don't care for EURO 2012 and are very unlikely to be in attendance...
  7. Well he wouldn't, he's never done a trip with England... just a kid.
  8. How would it upset our 2x strikers?
  9. Same here. Personally I reckon we should hold every tournament in Spain. Superb weather, lively coastal resorts, decent grounds, good food, good beer and plenty to do when in between games.
  10. Respectable Western European countries like Spain... oh wait, they've also got a serious racism problem and some of the worst police brutality I've ever seen on my travels. Maybe Italy then... oh wait, they've been suffering from corruption for decades now and are even talking about suspending football there for a while.
  11. I'm aware of that but you're not going to get a load of lefties doing a Nazi salute in a country where it is illegal to salute.
  12. If he's not good enough for Real Madrid, he's not good enough for us.
  13. Stop talking about things you know nothing about. You're starting to sound a bit silly. I've stood with the Eintracht Frankfurt ultras who are left wing; display socialist, anti-fascist and Che Guevara banners. They even had a load of Ultras over from Atlanta at that game and they're as far left as they come. They all chanted in this way, we even joked about being stood on a terrace with 10k lefties doing the Nazi salute.
  14. The best was the Panorama documentary about the World Cup in Germany. I was on the street in Cologne when the camera man was running down the street with his camera pointed at the ground. England fans were peacefully walking through the city back to the station after the game, the streets were knee deep in glass bottles and people were kicking them out of their way as they walked along. When we saw him running along filming the ground, we even joked at the time I bet they're trying to claim it's kicking off. Couldn't quite believe my eyes when I saw the footage on BBC later on and they were actually claiming England fans were lobbing bottles and they were running for cover. Lost all respect for the BBC's reporting on such matters ever since then.
  15. No he didn't. He said he was unsure what they were saying and that something may have got lost in translation. They were not Sieg Heiling, the lower league team with 30 odd degenerates in their ultras section were Sieg Heiling.
  16. That was just a knee-jerk reaction to the pitch invasion in the Dusseldorf v Berlin game - which was a light hearted pitch invasion celebrating promotion, they just went on a few minutes too early. There were women and kids on the pitch and most of them had come from the seating areas. Trying to get on the pitch from the terrace there would be a nightmare with the fence, the drop off from the stand and the netting. They won't remove the standing area, they know they're on to a good thing there and that the crowds would massively drop off with the introduction of all-seater grounds and price increases. Off course some of the teams have some moody followings like HSV, Dresden and Hansa Rostock but on the whole, most of them are quite tame and more interested in their tifos and their organised marches to the ground.
  17. He was right though. Loads of clubs chant in that style on the continent, including Germany where it's illegal to Sieg Heil. The lower league club they filmed making the monkey noises were Sieg Heiling, the Kharkiv fans weren't.
  18. Germany is probably one of the safest places to watch football in Europe. It's well policed and the German's can hold their beer. The Ultra scene there is massive at the moment but the violence is quite minimal. Greece has got to be the most dangerous places to watch football with the violence from the political protests spilling onto the terraces.
  19. I thought it was a poorly researched documentary and the presenter came across as rather clueless about football. Poland and Ukraine are no different from any other Eastern European country. On the continent, politics plays a huge part in football and the vast majority of teams are either left or right wing. I'm not saying it's right but it's the way it is. Anyway, none of the hardcore ultras will be in attendance at the games anyway, they've been protesting about the Euros ever since it was announced they'd be hosting them. The games will all pass off peacefully and UEFA will pat themselves on the back for fixing the racism problem/sweeping it under the rug in the Eastern Bloc.
  20. On paper they're a very good side, one of the best in the world. Just depends what mood they're in.
  21. Most people I know who went to Turkey in the 80's with England say it's the worst football violence they've ever seen. The game in Izmir was supposed to have been bedlam.
  22. Yeah that could be interesting, though Donetsk is more Pro-Russian than Pro-Ukranian, so will be interesting to see how bothered the locals are.Yeah I'm doing the 3 group games and then the QF and Final if we make it that far. Got accommodation sorted, staying in Uni halls and all our trains are booked as well. Though where the locals have priced nearly everyone out of travelling, you can get some decent hotels, in decent locations for a decent price. Unfortunately our bookings are non-refundable, oh well.Noel Gallagher is playing in Kiev whilst we're there as well. I'm probably looking forward to that more than the football, ha.
  23. They weren't the slightest bit bothered about us when I went to Ukraine with England a few years ago.
  24. Nothing will happen and all games will pass off without a hitch.
  25. That the same French team that beat us easily at Wembley the other year?
