No more gambling companies on club shirts

On the backs of shirts under the numbers, on the shorts front and back and on the front and backs of socks, and running down the arms of any long sleeve shirt. 🙂 -

I wish Ross all the best at Forest. I trust that, despite their hectic transfer activity this season, that he will be able to bring the full range of his skills and experience to their club, to develop a squad very much shaped by his transfer ethos. Right. That's one less club to worry about. Mind you, considering how our transfers and spending have worked out...

Yup. I'm not sure if the idea was for Bree/ Perraud/KWP to deliver balls directly into Onuachu (which seems like a big ask), or if it's was the likes of Orsic/ Sulemana who were supposed to receive them and then get that final ball into Paul quickly. With JWP/ Alcaraz offering midifled support (and some follow up assists/ goals as per lampard years ago). If it's the latter scenario, we've brought him in and not given him any player currently capable of giving him the ball. Even if JWP/ Lavia were to get it out wide from the middle, we still don't have anyone. Mind you, unless we play him, we're not going to see if anyone becomes capable of doing it.

Looked at few compilations. Lots of headers, but not all from using height. Physically just gets in there too. Predominantly he's a finisher. requires deliveries into the box that he can finish with the fewest number of touches. He can run into the box to get onto some of these, but not from too deep. Control is not the best. Although his height can make this a little deceptive, he's a poacher, and goals can be scruffy. Our method of absorbing pressure, hopefully not conceding, and then makig a break down the middle from very deep is something not suited for him. While he wants to take up poistions to finish off an attack, we're passing it about the middle. So, we're allowing our opponents to set up to defend, we're not giving him space to do anything and since there's no clear plan of attack, so he's not in the place where the ball might randomly ping to anyway. Would work well with a couple of attackers feeding into him. We have Che, but he's a bit more central. Better than the other options though. Despite the posts about Marsch not being wanted because weahve good wide players, we don't deliver with any kind of service to someone so good in the air, or who's more than happy to run off defenders for poacher goals. Again, this is partly as we don't shift the ball out to the flanks to use quickly enough, lack a creative link to get the ball into the box and are sitting so defensively, that he couldn;t get up the park anyway. We don't really deliver anything from deeper positions either. Partly as we've allowed everyone to get back anyway, so they don;t get through. But again, because why pass forward when you can shift the ball sideways. If you've got a team that has clear attacking tactics, midfielders who are set to break forward as a group, moving it to a shooting area quickly, giving him the license to be focused on getting on the end of things, than playing deep, then it would bring out his qualities. Even a team that presses higher up the park, so he could take advantage of breaks would work for him. But that's not this club under this manager.

Oh come on! I hadn't even had a chance to get my mouth frothing with indignation, and come out with this being the doom of our club! You just ruined that for me with your perspective stuff. 🙂

Was that the player when Simon Jordan was chairman? If so, he still mentions it to this day, every time the creeping interests of the Big Clubs once again reach out to take from everyone else. Once of the threads of that, and one that I've not heard Jordan gloat or be smug about, as there's a person involved, is the wasted potential that Bostock might have capitalised on, if getting regular football at that level through Palace. Hard to say, as any number of players fall away. But as you say, he was particularly highly rated at the time.

If the people in charge are basing their tactical plans on what the players think, then it's really broken. Those recrutiing should be the ones aware of the limitations/ capabilities of the squad. Mind you, we bought in a forward for JonesBall only for that not to last long, leaving him on the bench. Shambles. Marsch is going to look back and wonder if he was over fussy when presented with the club canteen menus. 🙂 With his compensation, I'd have thought he'd wait until the summer to see if there were jobs going in one of the top divisions, either here or in Germany. By the summer, our club might realises that those seinor players of ours were fibbing about having good wide players. Or good players anywhere, and invite Marsch back for a chat. If there are no top division jobs going then, maybe he'll consider it.

Jut saw that clip. Robertson goes out of his way to go right across the pitch for a right old moan at the official. I didn;t see him hold the official, but he's mouthing away in his personal space. The official reacts with an elbow jab that catches Robertson right in the chin. The offical is either 1) anticipating physical contact and making an reactive motion to get the guy clear 2) reacted to something robertson has said and has made a movement to get shot of him, by raising his arm to get him away from his space as per 1. 3) Got sick of yet another whiny, moany sweary player thinking that they can get in the face of officials and has done the game a service. 'Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane called the Reds player a "big baby" for his reaction. "Robertson should be more worried about his defending," said Keane. "Just get on with the game. He grabs the linesman first."' It is important that the authorities review this. Because that's a normal reaction to receiving a little jab to the chin. So, every single player from now on that rolls around clutching their face, should receive an automatic yellow. Moany dissent on receiving a yellow, gets another one. Utter man children.

Well done Djenepo. He did well to stay on his feet. Even better to remember how to do one of those direct, attacking runs that has been all but banished from the team. Pen? Normal service resumes, defenisvely to balance up that odd event of us having an effective attack.
-
Bednarek done for the pass, everyone else drawn in towards the ball, leaving the lethal striker unmarked. I'm glad Selles is here to make us more solid defensively, since we've no attack. >sigh<

oh dear. Nice finish, but allowed so, so much room for the shot.
-
No real surprises there. For any graft and possession we have, we're not really threatening to convert anything. And we concede quite softly, just before the break.

I read that and went "surely we'll be able to get better than top 10 in the Championship," before I realised the level of optimism there. 🙂

West Ham 1-0 Saints - Match Thread
Holmes_and_Watson replied to Convict Colony's topic in The Saints
According to the stats, we had some efforts, if not on target, then at their goal. 9 I think I saw go up. Of those, Perraud forced a reasonable save. The only delivery of note to Big Paul, and he hit the bar. Beyond that, we did our best, as the match went on, to play safe predictable stuff. A team, so used to having no strikers, just passes around without purpose. There were some little glimpses from Sulemana, Alcaraz and Lavia. Big Paul's touch got worse the deeper he was. But clearly he wants to be on the end of things. But there's no really drive in there. That's long been drilled out of them. Risk averse until the last kick. Another narrow scoreline defeat. So we continue not to get cuffed, which Selles was brought in as a coach to stop. But that's no longer enough. -

Decent levels of possession, if from fairly deep. KWP and Stu looking like something might happen. Their fans starting to get a little nervous. No cutting edge, but doing okay. All undone by a soft goal, from a position we've conceded before from, in equally soft positions. They have Ings and Bowen waiting to pounce, as we'll have to have a go. We've got...um...I guess we're hoping for a couple of pens. -
I trust the glue they were planning to use wasn't made from horses.
