  1. The guy we were considering to be our technical director https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68649991 Back, when he was linked with us... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/13/southampton-consider-approach-norwich-technical-director-stuart/
  2. Someone on the radio saying Henderson was the big miss in that position. The reason given is that it's because he coaches the others, especially the less experienced, through games. It sounded as a desperate attempt at support since they felt skill and form obviously can't be used. I get the feeling I tuned in after some criticism of him being in the squad.
  3. Perhaps the make a wish could continue to him leading England at the Euros, if his health holds up? 🙂
  4. I'd prefer to have one of the lions in a wheelchair and a second in a mobility scooter. Perhaps the third could represent the FA, and be on it's back playing with a £ sign?
  5. Hoops: A playful update on stripes.
  6. The thread catches posts, as the trawler catches fish.
  7. Yeah, hopefully the preventative chemo results in a full recovery.
  8. Ah, he's just an awesome bloke. Really pleased it's going so well for him.
  9. Truro managed by ex-Saint, Paul Wotton.
  10. Marketing bollocks from Nike over the England shirt. 'Nike described the redesigned flag as "a playful update to the cross of St George" which "appears on the collar to unite and inspire". A Nike spokesperson told media outlets: "The England 2024 Home kit disrupts history with a modern take on a classic.' Looking forward to all their shirts having a playful update on their own logo. A silhouette of a child in a sweatshop perhaps.
  11. Hey you, the Columbus Crew Show what you do, make a pass, make a move Hey you, the Columbus Crew Possession masters, show Martin what do do. As sung by analytics pioneers, The Rock Steady Crew.
  12. It's only fitting that he rejoins us in episode 6, and takes us to promotion. Age is nothing when you have that talent. 🙂
  13. That's not your channel?! Oh great, I'm now a premium member of Only Cats (which I'd have thought would be you as well.)
  14. Thanks for posting that. This is a thread I think of often on game days.
  15. Football management opportunities https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68584776 Delroy Corinaldi, of the Black Footballers Partnership, was on 5 Live earlier. Diplomatically avoiding a "is football racist?" question, he and others, are looking to any new regulator to take action on the issue. The link highlights a call for include diversity and inclusivity objectives in the Football Governance Bill announced today. From the article "report by three academics looked at off-the-pitch careers of about 3,500 former footballers who played in the Premier League or Championship between 1990 and 2010. It found that despite black players making up 25% of Uefa-issued coaching qualifications, in 2022 and 2023, they only accounted for 4% of all managerial roles."
  16. Yup. I was completely comforted by "The SMMT said: "Wherever the UK automotive industry exports, it is committed to compliance with all trade and economic sanctions, and continues to work closely with government and the new Office For Sanctions to ensure the effective implementation of the regulations." And they are complying with the sanctions lists, as they stand. That you can drive a shiny new car through them, doesn't seem to be a concern. Strangely, they aren't at all keen to investigae if any of the technology could be dual use (Azerbaijan has some military trade sanctions on it), or to track either the vehicles or the funds across borders into Russia. Just one of the number of examples where you think you're on the same side looking to end a conflict, only to find that a number of folk on your own side are only interested in lining their pockets.
  17. I just caught Dune as it left my local cinema. It's been a long time since I read any of the books. I had caught a few comments somewhere being a bit sniffy towards the Lynch version. Which I thought a bit unfair. I felt that, despite the increased running time, that the fall of the Attreides, specifically the lead up to it, was rushed in the first one, and that, very much like the 80s one, that a lot was crammed into the ending of this one. Knowing how things would roughly go, I found that Rebecca Ferguson's arc was the interesting one, and that she gave a lot of weight to the film. But it's really good to see it this sort of running time, with this sort of budget. The extra space allows for a lot of the complexity running through it to come out.
