Yup, as I said all through the season last year. No one was really talking about finances apart from me and now finally people are catching on. Essentially to make a good fist of the Premier League and be able to spend you need 2 to 3 seasons of little spending, so either consolidated in the Premier League or not a yo-yo club.
-
The issue is we are low on good quality players AND backups. Unfortunately, and I have been banging this drum over and over, we fucked ourselves 2 years ago and weren't strong enough to get promoted and compete financially.

He will be as we are not close to the asking price and are assessing other options (loans in and out).
-
Tbf we tried that under Ralph.

Can't afford to spend much more. Why don't people understand this simple premise?
-
FFP and PSR are essentially the same thing, and that was mentioned. Bringing up Palace is completely irrevelant to getting promoted now - they never had to deal with it.

What a decent season looks like for a poor PL team

Or where you haven't been in the PL for years and can spend as if you have £100m in your back pocket. -
No, the discussion was about yoyo clubs in the PSR era. I know that, because I started the fucking discussion.
-
I agree, no one wants it, but it's very difficult with PSR to get out of yoyoing unless you come up, spend next to nothing and stay up.
-
Palace haven't been in the Chpionship since 2012???
-
Bournemouth spent 2 years in the Championship between 2020 and 2022. Fulham have been Champ, Prem, Champ, Prem, Champ, Prem, Prem over the last 6 seasons - literally the definition of yoyo. They stayed up in 2022 because when they got promoted in 2020 they only spent £30m, then £17m in 2021 when in the champ. This meant they got promoted with the opportunity to spend £70m, and having Mitrovic up front helped. They nearly got fucked by PSR last year as well due to that Just because 1 club doesn't fit the rule doesn't mean the rule isn't correct, it means they are an outlier. So no, not like Bournemouth and Fulham.

People bemoaning not spending money makes me laugh - it was why I consistently said that being promoted would not really be a great idea and that we'd start to become a yo-yo team. The only way to stay in the Prem is to do an Ipswich - stay in the Championship or a lower division for a few seasons, re-group with a strong spine, then get promoted with no FFP issues and spend. Getting relegated and then being promoted again means you don't have that opportunity.

Fuck me, I've got to stop sniffing glue.

Not sure if joking due to lack of emoji's...

I'm really interested in how we're going to play next season - if we're going 5 at the back this could be very interesting as we'll play the overlap from fullback and essentially play with 3 strikers (Arma off right, BBD off left and central striker).

I'm not saying he won't, but it's very bullish.
-
Bloody hell, really? More than a good signing if he gets that.
-
No, it's like buying a player and loaning him to anyone - we own the player rights and I would presume that Goztepe are either paying some wages or none at all. I don't see why it really matters. It's been done for years and years by Chelsea and Man City etc through teams like Vitesse in the Dutch League. It's a good way to get playing time in a better league and develop players as well as gaining rights to play etc.
-
Happy with that - looks decent enough - nothing groundbreaking but think he will do well.

No confirmations yet, but one or more of you has the correct interpretation for one of the pictures...

They failed the interview - we don't scattergun our approach - if we say it, it's happening.

Sorry, think I'm missing something here.
