  1. Watched fellows a few times last season. He played a blinder against Ipswich in that 2-2 last minute draw. Realistically I think the club are doing the right thing. It's not the attractive, eye catching thing but it's sensible. Look at the number of clubs who have come up spent big and then had to sell off those players when they inevitably get relegated. Russ has said a few times when talking about players coming in that they want players who want to play for us. That seems to be a cornerstone of any conversation being had and probably includes a frank discussion on the possibility of championship football. I think that's the smartest thing we can be doing right now when you look at the amount of absolute shite we've had to shovel off the books over the past 2 years. I'd sooner be a yo yo club building a solid spine for years to come than spunk it all in one season and fall foul of loosing the majority of our team in relegation. Last season was one of the most entertaining seasons I can remember for a long time. (Close to 10 years) IF we can stay up then we can start to establish a base camp with a higher calibre of player.
  2. Come off it, this "Style" got us promoted and provided a very entertaining season. It's never going to be a walk in the park post-promotion but get behind your team at least.
  3. Wojciech Szczesny retired at 34 - I swear that lad has looked 40 for about 10 years. Shame could have been an option on a one year.
  4. Given the sparse details it looks like maybe we weren't happy with the way the previous fracture was treated and healed. Strap up lads the next few days are going to be a rollercoaster.
  5. Had a feeling this was coming given the delay between the supposed medical timelines and Russ' comments.
  6. this strategy arguably diminishes our potential return on investment which is crucial for us to be sustainable.
  7. I watched him have a couple of decent matches and plenty where he vanished and was ineffective. The other point with Broja is that his style of play was very well suited to Hasenhuttl's pressing/counter attacking style. I don't think he's as good a fit for Russball in any case.
  8. My dyslexic brain read Les Ferdinand 😂
  9. You could make this argument of a lot of players. Hypothetical =/= logical.
  10. I’d take a punt on Alberto over Broja any day of the week. Vastly more experienced with a much better goal to game ratio and only a hair older.
  11. In my humble opinion if we want to move the club forward we shouldn't be going back in for Ings or Ward-Prowse. Ings clearly doesn't want to be here, he's made that quite evident and there is nothing to suggest he'd be as effective Ward-Prowse doesn't add a great deal to what we have at the price he would command and would also be a bit of an awkward reappointment given his previous status as captain. I think there are likely much better progressive targets for that price that would improve us.
  12. Also means if we need to move in January we can. Hope it works out.
  13. Bazunu. That’s why I said long term. having a keeper like Bijlow in can only help his development once he’s fit.
  14. Happy with that. Bijlow brings a ton of experience for a 26 year old. Statistically better than Ramsdale in most areas and hungry to play and get his spot back in the Dutch national side. And a permanent move gives great competition long term.
  15. All football transfers are a gamble and just like anyone who has ever had a flutter at the casino will tell you it’s wise to spread your bets. £30M for MOR for US in this moment is too much of a gamble and I’m glad we’ve seemingly been a little more shrewd in our investment. Despite all of our wishes we are one of the bookie’s favourites to go down. Better have one eye on the future than not.
  16. I was about to pick up on the blindness coment. In the press conference Russ literally said that we have a long list of options we are looking at and that "We definitely need help in that department." But don't let the facts get in the way of a good moan eh.
  17. Russ said in yesterday’s presser he expects us to be very busy with business over the next week. Hold on to your hats boys.
  18. Because the level of the Süper Lig is far above the 3rd Division of French football. The players we are loaning out are being loaned with a view to bring them back to the senior squad.
  19. Bijlow, for me is the better fit. Ball playing keeper and at a decent price permanently. Definitely seems like a bit of deal sealing rumor-mongering.
  20. Exactly this he can be exciting and a liability at the same time. They aren't mutually exclusive. Smallbone isn't exciting but he is dependable and highly underrated in my opinion. 7 goals and 4 assists last year including the assist that brought us up. I don't see him as the creative attacking option in midfield, he's much more the 8 (Along with Mateus). We still need to replace Charley with a bonafide 10 that can push Aribo for a place.
  21. I don't think we're as close to the PSR line as many on here fear. The fact we dropped £15M on Mateus and likely £10M ish on Bijlow on top of the bits we've already done suggests there is more headroom than many think. (I believe this belief is probably driven mainly by us not going in on MOR for £25M) If he returns from his loan next year and is as-good or better than Charley plus we get some cash on top that only strengthens the PSR position.
  22. Sure but on the flip side of the coin we brought in Fernandes up front without selling a player so it's swings and roundabouts. As mentioned he's a saints player on loan, still an asset for us to sell on if he doesn't meet our needs down the road.
  23. Agreed this is how the multi club model will benefit us. On the surface it's easy to say 'Oh we're just wasting our budget on players for Goztepe'. But the realit is it opens the pathway for 'riskier' investments especially when we're now scouting more in south america and Japan. If some of these additions live up to expectations in Turkey it's an easy in and helps out massively for profit and sustainability in the long term.
  24. Lis to Goztepe pretty much confirms Bijlow on a permanent deal to be announced imminently I'd assume. Nice to have a proven keeper between the sticks. He won't be perfect no keeper is but I'll feel much more confident knowing that Macca will be 3rd choice at best when Gav is fit. Feels like we've had a sneaky good window and with a week to go I think there may be 1 or 2 more in attacking areas to come.
