  1. Yes, it's unlikely that SR would approach Robins. He's too experienced, doesn't fit their preference for up and coming managers. Would also need to pay compensation to Stoke. Robins is probably too sensible to join a basket case like Saints.
  2. Robins is a winner. League One winner and Championship play off finalist with Coventry. Would prefer Robins to Carrick, who hasn't quite cut it in the Championship. Would be a strong contender for promotion at a club with our budget
  3. It's not even a battle, we're getting relegated without a whimper unless there's a change of manager/coaching staff.
  4. We need a manager who's been successful in the Championship and could get promoted with a bigger budget. Someone like Mark Robins, but he doesn't fit the SR profile of up and coming.
  5. Still's appointment seemed underwhelming when it was made, his Ligue 1 record was keeping mid table clubs in mid table. His record at Saints suggests he lacks the experience to compete in the Championship. He seems to be rolling the dice to find a team that works. He probably should be replaced by someone with more guile at this level, but won't be. Sacking another manager would raise serious questions about Sports Republic's competence. After a series of leftfield appointments (from Jones to Still) that haven't inspired the players an experienced manager, like Mark Robins or Paul Heckingbottom, who can compete in the Championship would have credibility with the players and the ability to get them playing to their potential. It's not all on Still, there is a worrying issue with coaching that means players under perform or don't get a chance to at Saints and then go on to perform well as soon they play for another club (currently James Bree, Paul Onuachu, Dom Ballard), but this may be a symptom of too much managerial change and players not having a clear idea of how they should play.
  6. It may well pan out like this. Still's record in France was mid table finishes, but more performances like Hull and we're following Luton down the back to back relegation plughole.
  7. Still seems like the anti Russell Martin. Martin's obsession with building from the back ultimately cost him his job when he refused to adapt his style of play to avoid weekly humiliation in the premier league. Still likes to present himself as a pragmatic do what it takes to win manager, but theres no clear identity. He's not giving the players the detail they need to beat the opposition. The Hull manager's comments speak volumes about how easy we are to play against. "At the end it succeeded because we scored three beautiful goals, especially with crosses, because when we analysed Southampton they struggled with controlling the players in the box."
  8. Agree the club should act now to avoid another miserable season and salvage some credibility. No more left field appointments with potential. Someone who has won promotion to the premier league like Dyche, Jakanovic or Bilic, or has come close like Mark Robins. Rohl and Carrick have Championship experience but haven't got close enough to promotion.
  9. Kjetil Knutsen, has won the Norwegian title in last four seasons with Bodo Glimt. Beat Mourinho's Roma 6-1 in the UEFA conference. Could be the next Thomas Frank
