I haven't seen anything from Stephens that suggests he deserves a three-year extension. He is a mediocre player and is not good enough for the Premier League, which is where we are aiming to be. As a captain, he sets a terrible example with poor discipline (reminder: he missed NINE games from two red cards because of his conduct) and organisational skills. He should have been a squad player for this season only and nothing more.

Seems like a decent signing with a lot of promising attributes. Let's hope he hits the ground running!

The PL should stream those 10 games and give the revenue to the state. Now that's a way of filling the ten trillion pound black hole!

He had a very good chance of moving upwards towards another Premier League side after the relegation season if he had just put his head down and done his best. I can’t fathom why he acts the way he does.

Ipswich, Leicester (I don't believe they'll suffer as much as others do), Sheffield United, Birmingham and ourselves are all contenders for automatics. I also think that Norwich will be up there if they somehow keep their best players. Bristol City I believe will fall away this year.

He was loaned to a Premier League team in West Ham last year, what makes you think Brighton would 1) loan him to a weaker league 2) just give him away if we got promoted? He's a pretty hot prospect still at age 20.

I mean, nitpicking, we shouldn't be pushing for the Premier League at all costs. We need to do so in a financially stable way whilst avoiding purchasing players that could easily become deadwood later. We already have a decent core to push for promotion, even if it does require a bit of downsizing. Also, he's had 2 seasons of senior football. Even if it was only one, is he really 'untried'? 'Untried' was Shea Charles with literally one league appearance as a sub for Man City at the time of us purchasing him. A good scouting team is one that can identify players ready to make the step up. We don't have the status or finances to grab players just after they've exploded with success. We have to get them one step earlier.

Linden Kemkaran of Reform has decided that trans books are to be removed from children’s libraries in Kent. This is a sad day. I was an early pioneer of trans books back in my school days, where my progressive mates and I used to read them regularly. On the outside there was a thick encyclopedia hardcover, and on the inside scantily clad women.

He's a good kid. I don't know if he'll ever be suitable for the physicality of the English leagues, so I believe the best case scenario is that he absolutely smashes it this season and a La Liga side picks him up next summer.

I always wonder if our poor recent history gives a bit of a smokescreen for young players who have underperformed to get decent moves out. We've finished 20th, 4th, 20th in the last three years so I wonder if that makes clubs think "he's not gotten good service from teammates", "suffered from a lack of stability", "not given a good environment to develop" etc. leading to them taking a chance on players like Mara. Players that although they are still young have not shown anything special whilst here.
