I've been thinking Sport Republic and Southampton have been building a reputation in the footballing world (negative connotation) for some time. I don't see us escaping this slide until SR go, everyone knows they are incompetent from deep inside the club to across the continent.

I think there's a major lack of footballing nous in upper management, so they take half-hearted approaches when turning a new leaf. They believe changing the manager is sufficient, not noticing all the other problems in the room. They can put out a fire in the kitchen, but don't notice the black mold on the ceiling.

I like Jones, but he would never be a fit for Saints (nor Stoke). His emotional theatrical personality buys in most with underdog teams who haven't seen success for some time. Lots of respect for what he did at Luton and now Charlton.
  4. I expect he has until the international break to save his job
  5. That's ridiculous. If you just want to watch football, there are plenty of non-league sides with more fight than Saints and ticket prices a fraction of the cost of ours... Best thing is you don't need to 'switch allegiance' to do it.

Imagine how fans of Cov, Boro, Stoke, Millwall etc feel this year, all four of the 'big boys' have fallen flat on their faces and they're flying, they must be rubbing their hands with glee.

To be fair we are like a car crash in slow motion, no doubt people are going to be gawping and gossiping about it.

Think you may be right, there is no post for Martin post Spurs 5-0. https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/news/tag/russell-martin
  9. Unfortunately, I don't think we're held in the same regard nationally as a footballing establishment. They'll probably get a decent owner, we'd get a charlatan knowing our luck.

Even if the next one is even worse, our current trajectory is relegation anyway.

He will be gone tonight, but the news will not fill me with hope, just apathy I have no belief that SR will be able to understand the circumstances
  13. Saints 21st and Pompey 19th. Hampshire is brown.
  14. We are going down Say we are going down
  15. That's definitely the other half of it. The losers of yesteryear are now the core of the team. Failure just means you become part of the furniture. Being relegated, finishing bottom, losing games every week, it breaks their psyche. There's definitely a culture of failure in the club. But SR either don't notice it or don't care - they just perpetuate the same names.
  16. I'm starting to zero in on the coaching set up being the problem. Not just the manager, but the entire group. SR throw money at players, some of them mediocre picks to begin with, but there have been good buys on paper. But we continuously ruin players who come to us with pedigree. You can't build a five-star hotel on quicksand.

Probably the prime example of us ruining a player who arrived with great fanfare. I'd love to know what's going on at Staplewood every day.
  18. Has no idea how to run a football club Has no idea what makes a good appointment to any position
  19. The symptom of a broken coaching setup
  20. One day it'll all come out, all the decisions made that caused the total atrophy of the club within 4 years.
  21. Sell up Solak...
  22. Think you'll get the opposite I'm afraid, Scienza is definitely going places after this season
