I guess I am a bit of a Marxist these days.....the privatised water companies waste millions of litres of water daily equivalent to 17 flushes a day per household allegedly, somebody worked this out...... The trains are getting more crowded and customers don't know where the price rise money goes. No ****? No, I'd nationalise both trains anda water, same with gas. I do recall in the boozer back in 1983/85 when Maggie privatised these.....the working class heroes in there were all in favour of it. I bet they are all in fuel poverty (I earn 3 times the national wage) now. I said at the time that it would be impossible for any of the companies to make a loss as they have a captive market and so it has proved.

I agree with the fact that the money is there, within the banks. I believe the banks want to hold onto it, plainly wrong in my view, at least in terms of what the country needs now. If the banks were nationalised we could hold the banks to account so that they did lend. I believe there is already subsidies within the train companies now, despite the fact that they are privatised.

I don't know if this is a disciplinary meeting and I take your point that I might be worrying unnecessarily. I don't think it is disciplinary yet. He is coming to the end of his 16 week period of absence and its possible that this meeting was scheduled before the stabbing incident, I don't know. I wonder though if the stabbing incident changes things for the company, he has put entries on Facebook. I have a feeling that this colleague will blow it in the meeting, his view of life currently is not normal. He is hoping for a pay off, he would possibly get a year's salary for all his years of service and would settle for that. I read somewhere that he might be retired on il health grounds and receive half his salary as a pension....this would be better for him. He is going to need an income and if he doesn't work again he will just end up penniless. He has no family.

I want to nationalise the banks to get them to lend, nationalise the trains so we have a cheaper better service, nationalise the water companies to stop foreign ownership of our utilities. That's just for starters. Then I would like the same for our other utility companies so that we own the utilities we depend on. How anyone can pretend that Bristish Gas is a private company when it is pretty much monopoly is beyond me. They can pretty much charge what they want..... Does labour want anything to with any of the above....no. So stop artificially introducing differences between the 2 "parties". I for one can't tell them apart.
