The BBC had pretty decent viewing figures for Wigan v Man City on Monday night. Around 6 million, I read earlier this week. Questionably many of them may have switched it on expecting to see Eastenders, but I think they got a better viewing audience than they would have done from screening the game on a Sunday lunchtime.

It was basically the best game I have ever been to, by miles.

It was fairly obvious from the start of the window that in our predicament we would not be making any permanent signings. Due to a combination of factors of a lack of players wanting to join us (partly due to uncertainty about who the manager would be), Saints not wanting to be fleeced by selling clubs knowing we have cash, and Saints being unwilling to commit to lengthy expensive contracts given our likely relegation.

It will be two or three loan signings at most. To expect any more than this is highly unrealistic.

He is the slowest quick player I've ever seen. In the side seemingly for his pace, yet he just slows it all down.

 

Does he actually have pace, or is it just a myth? If he doesn't have pace then he probably shouldn't be a professional footballer as I'm not sure what else he has.

Redmond is deceptively slow.

He’s just had a £9 million payoff from Everton. He isn’t exactly going to be losing sleep if he starts his next job badly.

Really disappointed in how Pellegrino has turned out. I'm struggling to think of anyone capable of turning this around if he's sacked.

Ake has played quite a bit in midfield at Watford, CB at Bournemouth and Left sided CB3 at Chelsea. He would be a very solid partner for Romeu. We should try and sign him anyway.

I honestly think most of the modern day players (premiership) do not care about their own supporters. They are so far removed from most of us who travel to places like Prague and spend a decent amount of time and money. Not really a booer myself but did shout a few obscenities last night as was really disappointed with the team and their effort.

Most players have never been regular match-attending fans, mainly as they have been playing 3 or 4 games a week from a fairly young age, so they can't relate to what fans go through to go to games (including the whole charade of trying to get tickets in the first place...). I think that many players think of fans in a similar way to how they view the press, ie a necessary evil.

And was utterly bemused by those who clapped them off.

Though McQueen deserved applause. Ironic that he was the one apologising to the fans in the interview after the game.

Just got an 8-hour train to Paris from Garibaldi Station, and have a flight from Charles de Gaulle Airport to City Airport. Cost me an extra £250 to book it, but have to be back in England today. Bunch of arse. Particularly as the flights from Milan to Gatwick may well be fine, but I couldn't chance it.

Just arrived at Linate and asked a girl working in a money exchange desk if she knew any update. She said that all she knew at the moment was flights in Sardinia are definitely affected on Friday. Which seems a bit random.
