  1. These are the home games I missed the last two seasons because they fell on the first Tuesday and I was unavailable. They are the only home league games I have missed in the last 2 years.

    1st Dec 2009 Wycombe - Won 1-0

    2nd Feb 2010 Huddersfield - Won 5-0

    2nd Nov 2010 Dagenham - Won 4-0

8th March 2011 Yeovil - Won 3-0 (I know 2nd Tuesday but I had an important meeting that night as well!)

    5th April 2011 Charlton - Won 2-0

You guessed it, will not be there tonight.

I've been to many a game over the last 20 years, but that 5-0 Huddersfield game was right up there with the best I've ever seen.

  2. I still think we are a good, quality, quick forward away from an automatic promotion winning side.

Agreed. Baldock looked a class act last night, shame we couldn't get him in the window.

  3. Interesting. Reading are similarly-placed to where they were at that point. I have a suspicion they could go on a charge like they did last year.Middlesboro and Palace would appear to be the main teams to have improved, having got rid of ex-Saints managers from north of the border.

  4. I'd like to warn anyone who decides to use the opening thread link posted by Pat from Poole that the download of the plugin in will disrupt your computer for ever more by installing browser plugins and searchqu which is really difficult to uninstall.

Oh Christ, sorry I had no idea.

  5. That was f*cking immense. Possibly the hottest room i've ever been in though - must have been at least 35c in there! Pools of sweat on the floor.

Sorry, I should have read the rest of the thread, now realise you were actually talking about The Subways, not the Wild Beasts!!! Apologies.

I saw The Subways at Southampton University last night. Fantastic gig, can confirm there were also pools of sweat on the floor last night as well. Jeez, it was hot in there.

  7. Monkey World ?

    I've been there.

    Boring.

It's just, like, full of apes.

I believe Monkey Business to be a big indoor play-area type place. There's one of them at Tower Park up the road from me, anyway. As for Beattie, would happily have him back, but he's probably about 8 years too old for Cortese to want to sign him.

  8. I remember doing a few travel club coach trips in the early 90's - boring as hell. One trip up to Anfield was back to back "one foot in the grave" videos. Never, ever had time for a beer before the game either. Went on a few Eastside Travel coaches which were much more fun though and a good laugh - always sorted out a pre-match pub for us as well. I won six cases of lager in a raffle on a trip up to Leeds once. Also got Bobby Stokes as an after dinner speaker for a game up at Newcastle which was a bit special.

Eastside. That takes me back. Did they sort of become Princess Summerbee?

  9. am liking the look of BT Vision to be honest...too many cr4p channels on Sky that i would NEVER watch....with the BT option you're only tied in to the sports channel for a minimum of a month, so thats great for me (I'd only watch Saints games,so it's such a waste of money to pay EVERY month otherwise.....)

    thanks for the advice gents....:)

I thought it was a minimum 2-year contract for BT Vision? Maybe my mistake.

If you're a fan of HD, might be worth mentining that you'd miss out on having the footie in HD with BT Vision.

  10. Driscoll and Cotterill had a massive fall out and have a dislike for each other, if the war of words from last seasons games have anything to go by

Vaguely remember this. I can recall Cotterill being asked by Solent how he got on with O'Driscoll, with them both having been ex-Boscombe players, and Cotterill didn't want to answer the question, clearly some bad blood.

  11. when games are on sky why not reduce the price of tickets?

We have never done this whoever has been in charge of the club, to the best of my memory. Guess it doesn't help when non-PL clubs only get a small fee from SKY for live games (is it £60K?) , doesn't give much scope to reduce prices really.

FWIW I was expecting the attendance to be about 21,000. The club could barely have done less in the last two months to try and capitalise on the feelgood factor from promotion.

  12. Just so Pat isn't disappointed, it wasn't "many" games last season that you got the 90 minutes, it was about 5/6 games, but pretty much every home game had "extended highlights" of about 20 minutes or so.

The Bournemouth away game had the full 90 minutes also, and a few other away games had extended highlights but from stupid angles with pointless stop start editing and annoying music.

Well worth the money though, it's a good service.

Thanks. That sounds pretty decent. I think they're doing an offer of £36 for a year, which seems OK.

When do the match highlights first appear on Saints Player? Does it normally take a day or two? If it was the same day, I'd be quite impressed, have to say.
