So, we need to wrap Ross Stewart in cotton wool and transfer Quarshie to Portsmouth
-
There's a cream for that
-
That's Fellows off then
-
Positives. Nathan Wood has been excellent. Tom Fellows has been our best attacking threat. Ross Stewart has had his best 45 minutes for Saints. Not much else
-
I'd bite your arm off for mid table, right now.
-
Nathan Wood has been good
-
I think I'd take survival now
-
I agree. He has had two seasons of recurring injuries. It will take several full games to recover any degree of fitness and sharpness. Only then will we see the real Ross Stewart and be able to really judge him.
-
That was something to build upon. Defence looked better without Baz, THB and Captain Shoehorn. Armstrong looking good again and Stewart is an improvement on Downs and can only improve with game time. Although, he must be the only Scot alive who needs to put some weight on. We need to improve further, especially sharpness around the penalty area.

We have committed a massive gaffe by going into this season without an experienced and fit central striker. Which three proven strikers are you referring to?
-
If you ignore junior football, he scored 13 goals in 42 matches for FC Koln, less than 1 in 3.
-
As would Keifer Moore or Richard Kone

Does our recruitment team even watch players before we buy them?

Absolutely, his body language stinks as though he doesn’t want to be here. All strikers have periods of bad form and their confidence suffers, but they still need to go through the motions. That’s the way you play yourself back into form. You are never going to resolve the issues by just strolling around the pitch. The classic example of this was Shane Long, not the tallest and not the most talented, but compensated for his weaknesses by chasing and competing for everything and making defenders lives a nightmare, until something clicked, which it often did. -

To be fair it wouldn't be difficult to be marginally better than he is currently showing. -
Does this show that his form down to attitude? I.e. raises his game for Liverpool but doesn’t do it against Stoke or Wrexham?

Disappoint? -

That can be the only explanation for us buying Downs. Any scout seeing him live would have had to see he had the touch of a rapist, zero positional awareness and inability to head the ball. At the very least, I would expect him to compensate such poor natural talent by competing for every ball and pressing the opposition urgently as Shane Long did, but he doesn’t even do that. This reeks of SRs data driven approach to recruitment.: we need a number 9 Tick, needs to be tall Tick, needs to be young rather than experienced Tick. How on earth does Stewart not get in ahead of him? -
He gives me Ali Dia vibes too. At least Souness realised he was shit and took him off about 10 minutes after he came on 😂
-
Baz distribution is not world class
-
Add a decent central striker to you know do that put the ball in the net thing and we could be decent. Again, who knew?
-
Can I add to that list, no experience in the league that they will be playing in
-
He kept a shit team with dysfunctional owners in the Championship last season and was in with a shout of reaching the playoffs. Sounds like ideal experience, then.
-
Bit radical that. Next, you'll be suggesting getting a keeper who can keep the ball out of the net rather than palming it straight to the nearest unmarked attacker.
-
Mid table would be an improvement
-
He's got a pineapple on his head
