Nobody is saying he shouldn't miss that, but, many of us are asking some of the more impulsive posters (Mara #2, etc.) to cut him some slack after just two half-games in a Saints shirt.

You're right, I was disappointed that a number 9 ducked that, especially as it was an almost certain goal if he got there. Big Ron would never have ducked that ....

Based solely on that showing, I think Wrexham will be fine in the Championship if they can keep Moore fit as a target man. I'm sure they will strengthen before the window closes.

Always surprises me how people can come away from the same match with different impressions. I thought Edwards had a poor match and Quarshie, while raw, added power and pace to the defence. Personally, I haven't heard anyone turning against Edwards just some opinions that he misplaced quite a few passes which was a surprise when we had high expectations of his ballplaying ability and high praise for his QPR performances. Add that to a naieve push which led to the penalty, he just didn't have the best of matches.

The goals at the end papered over the cracks. Wrexham could have been 2 or 3 up. We desperately need a creative midfielder (Spertsyan or Rudoni) and a winger who can beat a man. Fraser is not a number 10. Charles, Manning, Quarshie, Stephens very good. Robinson will be a good player but still young and a little lightweight. Very disappointed in Edwards and Sugawara who both gave the ball away too much. Finally, Armstrong wasn't, isn't and never will be a number 9. We had so much more balance and threat in attack with Downes or Stewart and finally gave their cente halves something to think about other than what they're going to have for dinner.

I still think the biggest mistake SR has made was letting him go.

I think we need more than a pretty decent Championship side to finish in the top 2. We only managed 4th last time and that was with Adams, Bednarek, Walker Peters and Brooks. Downs was a big player for us that season but has had a poor season, patchy health to say the least and a falling out which saw him looking for a transfer. I think we are several players short of competing for top 2. In particular, creative midfielders, good wingers and a reliable goalkeeper.
