  1. It's all middlemen, and a large part of that is down to an abrogation of personal responsibility. The problem arrives when the middle men begin to jam up the works. I've been dealing with letting agents lately. Complete pack of f**kers who cynically exploit people at vulnerable times. I'm in the lucky position of being able to bide my time, but someone who is forced to move (landlord selling house, etc) will get taken to the cleaners. Admin fees, hidden charges. One firm I spoke to wanted £50 to renew a contract. No value to society whatsoever.
  2. The multiple inane "look at me" threads are a bit of circumstantial evidence I can't ignore, saintbletch. There is something fishy about Barry Sanchez. I'm taking Shaw Taylor's advice and keepin' them peeled.
  3. To be fair, I asked Peter what my name was Always the first question. If they have the balls to stick around after they fall at that hurdle, both barrels are justified, I feel.
  4. That'll show 'em, Bazza. There are agendas within most parties, all with different levels of funding. Any particular group you were thinking of within Labour?
  5. The situation for the people in flood plains is mental too. Insurance companies don't want to know. Much noise has been made about the flood defences being inadequate. Perfect storm, really. Governments haven't invested enough, creating higher risk and recompense. Insurance companies recognise the risk. The people in end up paying for it.
  6. I've just got off the phone with an Indian fellow called Peter. Nice chap. Took the trouble of making an international phone call to tell me that his company had detected problems with my computer. Of course, the poor fellow stumbled when I asked the simple question "what's my name". He was close to a breakdown, only able to utter the words "That's good to know" toward the end of our conversation, after an extended diatribe from myself, including the question "how do you look your kids in the eye and tell them that you make your living by trying to con English people into installing software they don't need or infecting their machines?". I do feel a bit guilty, but at the same time; this stuff really irks me. It's one of the little evils of capitalism. There are many more. I'm sure even the most ardent right winger would have one or two in the locker; guaranteed if they've ever listened to talkSPORT. What are your little evils of capitalism?
  7. Score loads and prosper, Saints* * 23rd century Vulcan Football Chant, second only to "the referee is illogical".
  8. Blimey. There's one born every quarter.
  9. Anyone fancy offering a big pre-match primal scream? Go on. You know you want to.
  10. It's odd; since I went self-employed and no longer get sick pay, I no longer really get sick. Weird that. I'm fairly lucky health wise; if I'm ill, there's generally a very specific reason for it.
  11. Whoosh?
  12. Dunno. Are you about to come? Or have you done it lately? If so, did you wear a johnny?
  13. He's about to crack! His story is falling to pieces! Stop trying to derail the case!
  14. So basically, you're saying that up until now, you have never been interested in joining a Saints message board?
  15. Don't close the thread yet. Instead, see it as SaintsWeb's very own answer to Columbo.
  16. So have you ever been a member of any other Saints board?
  17. We're the arrested development generation. I blame video games and freely available porn.
  18. So have you ever had an account on here before, Barry Sanchez? I'm sure I'm not alone in admiring the ease at which you've asserted your swagger on this thread. You're a veritable forum pro. You've backed that up with your impressive national credentials, but still, I find it almost inconceivable that you've just discovered this place. Why wait until now to bestow your brilliance among us?
  19. I can't point at specifics, but Barry's posting style is eerily reminiscent of life over at the UI. So it might not be dune, but there are a couple of other candidates. I like the endearing relationship between Turkish and This Charming Man. They literally hang off each others' posts, with perhaps a minute in between. It's good to see that in this day and age, such strong platonic bonds can emerge
  20. I like that you have so much time to post. We've missed that since dune has gone. He was on here all day too! Anyway, the danger of not being able to express yourself properly is coming across as an uneducated moron, especially if you bung a garnish of homophobia onto your mixed grill of right-wing sound bites.
  21. You shall rule the galaxy together, as bletch and b!tch.
  22. I didn't really understand the point either.
  23. Is that a bit like "I live in Cressington. You live in Kensington"? (Liverpool Kensington not as nice as the London one)
  24. I think scouse sense of humour is more to do with a culture of taking the p!ss, which they almost certainly imported from Ireland. I'm not really a fan of overtly Northern humour anyway. All a bit lowbrow for me. Many scousers find the celebrated notion of a scouse sense of humour just as tiresome as others.
  25. Mate; really not bothered. I'm proud of my association with the city; it has provided me with most of what I love; education, family, etc. Naturally, I'm very fond of the place. More Sotonians should come here; not less.
